Entwined Destinies Part 2

Kanna pounds loudly on the door of Yoki and Ron's apartment. Yoki opens it, "What are you doing so late at night? Did something happen?"

Kanna: "Yes, and we'll have to tell Finchai next."

Ron makes a cup of tea to wake himself up and sits on the couch. Yoki sits with Kanna at a bar stool in the kitchen. Yoki: "We're with you every step of the way Kanna."

Kanna: "That girl, Miss Gloom, she claims to be my sister."

Ron: "WHAT?!!"

Yoki: "How can that be true?"

Kanna: "I don't know, I've got to ask my parents to make sure it isn't true. She claims I'm adopted."

Into Nyarri Again

A few days later, Kanna travels back to her hometown Nyarri. It is still snowing in Nyarri, somehow. Kanna breathes hot air out of her mouth as she recalls how much she hated this kind of weather. The sky is white with mystery.

Kanna knocks and the door is answered by Abel Foloki. Likewise, her mother Zefara greets her with sweet caramel cookies. Kanna hugs both, "Father, mother, I missed you both." Kanna I heard I was adopted and that I have two other parents. Both parents give Kanna an intense look.

Kanna: "What, no NOOO!! Tell me it ISN'T TRUE?! Make this NIGHTMARE END!!" Able hugs Kanna who weeps. Kanna pushes Able off of her, "Why didn't either of you tell me? After all this time."

Zefara: "Because we loved you so much Kanna, you were our only daughter. I didn't have the ability to give birth unfortunately. You were all we needed, and you seemed happy. We never wanted you to feel unwanted or inadequate." 

Kanna: "Well I found out anyway, from my crazy sister. How brought me to you?"

Able answers, "Your grandmother Diorra. She's passed away now." 

Kanna: "Then where could I find my parents?"

Zefara: "The city has a public birth records office to find info about your family. You were not born in Nyarri, but a city called Voshuba. It is deep within the island called Keel. If you go there, you will get the info you need." Kanna hugs both of her adoptive parents before leaving on the same tiger-wolverine she rode in Gonzala.

Kanna pats the animal, "I'm gonna call you Twitch-Eyes." The predator smiles. Kanna rides around a crowd of people as she enters a sprawling medium-sized city. Many people look tired and overworked in this factory town. Pollution can be seen barrowing the skyline. 

Kanna gets off Twitch-Eyes and storms past two guards with fuzzy beige hats, spears, and a mixture of red and brown armor. Kanna marches into the administrative building and meticulously searches her own personal records until she kinds something new.

Kanna can't find anything on her personal birth, but she finds something based on a name that Sora had written down for her and left in her pocket. Kanna looks into Hansi Venri and Piona Ashu, her alleged parents. Kanna goes on a long trip before stopping in front of a small light blue home and knocking several times.

Piona opens the door and breaks down crying, "Awww, is it my baby."

Kanna: "I'm here mom. All my life I've been a Foloki but today I'm an Ashu." Piona hugs her long lost child and cries. 

Piona: "I was not the best equipped to raise you but if it were up to me, I would have."

Kanna: "What happened mom?" Piona thinks back deeply at how this all began. It is around 84 AG. Piona is outside with Hansi arguing. Her boyfriend is a drunken stupor, he is irresponsible and wild. Likewise, she is an equal fool for being with him. She was always attracted to flashy and fun men.

Hansi: "Just stop giving me a hard time, I'm seriously trying?"

Piona: "Being drunk every week is trying? It's time you put your big boy shoes on." 

Hansi: "I had to get something off my mind. And I read about Azulon's new program, did you hear about it?"

Piona dismisses him, "I don't have time for conspiracy theories." According to legend, Azulon made a program for mentally unfit parents. The state would take guardianship over such children and would adopt them as their own. Likewise, these children would be made into concealed assassins.

Piona hears loud sirens and looks out of the window of her apartment. Hansi runs with her to peek out the window. A military transport arrives. Lieutenant Goshal exists with two intelligence troopers. The intel troopers have slick black armor with white skeleton like highlights and well as fierce helmets that make them appearance soulless. 

Goshal himself has black armor with a brown collar. The man is so proud and full of himself. He has gold eyes, is of a moderate height, and has rich dark brown hair. Goshal: "Gentlemen, let's get to business." As the troopers viciously storm apartments Piona nearly falls into shock at the realization that the horrific stories were true.

(The Last of the Mochicans Promentory- Music Starts) Hansi warns her, "Piona, we have to hide Sora!" The young woman runs toward her specific apartment. Two soldiers step up to Hansi who does the first noble thing in his life when he intentionally speaks to distract him.

They notice Piona looking to get away from them and how fast she is walking which they find suspicious. The soldiers waste no time in shoving Hansi out of the way and chasing after her in pursuit. Piona pushes past multiple people as she looks to get to her apartment and cover her trasks.

The power thirsty intel troopers plow through whatever people are in their way as they look for the woman. Piona makes it to her room and swiftly unlocks the door with her personal key before rushing in and locking the door behind her. Piona picks up her baby Sora and covers the infant's mouth before dearly rubbing it. 

Piona is swift to hide it. A few seconds later intel troopers pry the front door open and march in. They push Piona aside and sweep the entire room. The agents say nothing and exit. Later that day Piona arranges for a carriage to take her out of the city where she can try to hide Sora. 

Piona storms out of her apartment with her baby wrapped in a blanket. As she steps into the carriage, the driver shows a Fire Nation intel badge, "That's a cute baby." Piona hops out of the vehicle but forgets to grab Sora. She rushes to get back in but is snatched from behind by an intel trooper.

A second intel trooper also grabs a hold of her. Piona: "Noooooo, NOOOO!!! Let me go!! Let me have my BABY!!!" Piona breaks down in tears, but the soldiers don't let up. The driver takes off with the infant. The elite soldiers push her aside and jump in the carriage. (Music Stops)

Three years later, Piona and Hansi meet again. Piona: "I'm pregnant again Hansi, I won't lose another child"

Hansi nods, "This time we'll make it right." Piona knows doctors will take the baby if they read she is blacklisted. She has to be preemptive if she wants this child to be protected and free. However, the woman has no plan.

She bangs door after door in her apartment, no one answers. She goes beyond her apartment knocking on more doors and still gets no response. For a second, she seems to be running low on hope. So many fears flood the woman's head, like if she'll be told on.

An older woman greets Piona, "Young woman, come with me. I have what you seek." A desperate Piona follows her. 

Piona: "Mam, who are you and why did you call me?"

Older woman: "I am Diorra. I know what you're going through, I heard about what happened three years ago. I have a daughter who can't have children. She is kind and lives in Nyarri. She will take your child, but first you must come with me." Piona falls silent.

Diorra and Piona exit the city and travel into the outskirts. Diorra: "I can offer you private shelter until you have your child. I also can offer you new work. I can see you are tired of working at your factory, I know a homecare facility that needs people. The workload is manageable, and the people are considerate."

Piona is taken to a calm facility at a wide-open building in the more rural yet beautiful outskirts of Voshuba. Piona peacefully gives birth to her baby with the help of a local nurse in a calm white room overtop a light blue bed. Diorra: "Now, I must take your little one, it is the only way she can be safe."

Piona: "What is the name of her parents, if I might ask?" 

Diorra: "Able and Zefara Foloki..."

Piona: "I won't ever mention them again. Can I name her?"

Diorra replies, "It is your child, you can. They will take whatever name you give."

Piona: "Kanna, her name will be Kanna and she is the new beacon of hope in our family. I hope she will be radiant like the sunshine." 

Diorra: "Aww, welcome Kanna to the Foloki family. Take as long as you'd like." Piona kisses the baby and allowed her moment with her before she finally hands her over. Diorra rides in a carriage where she hands the baby Kanna to the young couple Able and Zefara. Both are just in their twenties. 

Zefara briskly takes the baby and cradles it, "I will love you like my own Kanna, you are a gift to us." Able holds his wife and pats Kanna's right shoulder. Kanna has a new home. Piona's flashback ends and Kanna's eyes water. The two hug each other.

Other Half of the Puzzle

Hansi finishes a fruit delivery shift and walks back to his apartment, "Man, I'm getting too old for this."

Kanna steps a few feet behind him, "Turn around."

Hansi shifts his body and has a good look at her, "I don't know you young lady."

Kanna: "It's Kanna, your youngest daughter."

The man holds his chest like he has a bad case of heartburn, "It IS YOU. Welcome, we have much to discuss. You can come in and see my place."

After several minutes of chatting Hansi admits, "I was ashamed of you when I found out how much you achieved. I felt inadequate as a dad because it seemed like you never needed me. You figured it all out on your own."

Kanna adds, "Being a father isn't all about metrics. It's about quality time. You never got to have that with me before, but that doesn't mean we can't start now." 

Hansi: "Wow, you are ahead. You just taught me something." Hansi and Kanna continue their chat throughout the night. The next morning Kanna rides with Twitch-Eyes back to Gonzala. The yellow sun is beaming as she moves across several yellow-green grass mounds in Gonzala's Southern plains. 

Kanna meets with Yoki, Ron, and Finchai who are waiting for her. Yoki strongly asks, "What do you want to do, sister in arms?" 

Kanna: "She is my sister, she is my family, I cannot kill her, but I also can't give up on her or allow her to live like this. When the time is right, I just ask that you all stand by me."

Ron: "If that is your wish, then we will respect it."

Finchai: "Just remind her that when she tries to kill us, but I'm down." 

Kanna: "I'm sorry to ask you all for help during this difficult journey."

Yoki: "Don't be, we made a pledge to stand by each other when we joined the Proxy Force. This is all part of it. We will bring your sister back home, one way or the other. I only hope you still see me as a sister too."

Kanna answers, "Always."
