I was in a park, surrounded by children running around, laughing and playing. Although on the outside he looked like another baby, on the inside he couldn't help but feel contempt for the other children. How could I socialize with these inept little ones? None of them compared to my greatness. He was surrounded by insignificant beings who had no idea who I was.
— Look, Mom! A swing! — a boy shouted as he ran toward the playground. I crossed my arms and looked at him with disdain. A swing? Was that what excited them? Ridiculous.
Hana left me on a blanket near the playground as she sat on a nearby bench to keep an eye on me. I watched the other children playing and laughing, feeling reluctant to socialize. To me, these kids were just a distraction from my true purpose.
However, I soon found an advantage in this. Observing how the other children were busy with their games, I realized that I could take advantage of those moments of loneliness to find out what kind of quirk I had and experiment with it. I decided that even if these children didn't compare themselves to me, their presence could be helpful in hiding my true intentions.
At first, the discoveries were small and unnoticed. During one of those moments when I was alone, I felt a strange energy flow within me. I focused, trying to channel that energy. Suddenly, a small panel appeared in front of me. He had not yet managed to understand the writing of this world, but it was still a relief to know that he was someone with a quirk.
Eventually, I started practicing in secret, moving away from the playground a bit so as not to be observed.
At first, the panel in front of me greeted me cordially. The panel was similar to those of the video games I had seen on Hana's television, showing detailed information about myself. There were indicators for my HP (health), agility, strength, intelligence and other attributes. It was like I was in a role-playing game, but in real life. Although I didn't fully understand everything I saw, I knew this was an advantage.
But the real breakthrough came when the mystical system began assigning me missions. The first mission was:
[Get ten old ladies' flattery about your tenderness]
|Rewards |>
Initial Arcane Energy.
Level 1
My disbelief quickly turned to anger. Was this system humiliating me with a ridiculous mission? What kind of warrior had to get praise from old women to progress? I couldn't help but insulting the system in my mind for this mockery.
Although it took me several attempts because of my pride, I finally resigned myself. I started smiling and making adorable gestures to earn the compliments of the old women in the park. It was humiliating, but eventually I managed to get the ten compliments needed.
After all that effort, I got my reward. He could now channel magical energy to create tiny barriers and projectiles. Although at first it seemed insignificant, I knew this was just the beginning.
As I completed more missions, my skills would become more powerful and complex. The idea of developing these skills filled me with excitement and determination. I was determined to master my quirk and become an unstoppable force, even in this new world.
—
— Well done, Raiden! Again, you have a perfect grade on your test. You can go now. — The teacher congratulated me. She looked excited and maybe it was because, finally, someone showed a little brain in school. Maybe I was used to mediocre students and my performance seemed like a blessing.
As Hana taught me, I bowed a little before I left. Honestly, I was disgusted with such action.
I refused to make these little shows of respect for others. In my previous life, it was a custom for other people to bow when they saw me, so I never did them. However, Hana began to notice this small behavior and quickly began to seriously scold me. He told me that no matter who it was, I should learn to show respect.
It was the first argument he had lost, as he threatened to disconnect television if he learned he was rude. I couldn't afford to lose that source of information about this new world, so I resigned myself to following his instructions.
Now, at five years old, my life had changed a lot. Thanks to kindergarten, I had learned more about this world and its quirks. At school, we received quirk advice. The goal was to make sure that children didn't have the idea that they could do whatever they wanted with their abilities; this was done to prevent them from abusing their quirks and using them for evil. Public display of quirks was against the law, except in self-defense cases, such as when one was under attack or prevented someone else from being attacked.
This new information helped me better understand the rules of this world and plan how I could train and develop my skills without attracting attention. I didn't want them to suspect my quirk, I knew it wasn't common after hearing the teacher name several quirks and that in fact, none of them were similar to mine.
[New mission!]
|>Train your body
through your knowledge.
acquired from the past.
Reward: A new skill.
— Just what I needed. —
Without waiting any longer, as I was on my way home, I started designing a training regimen using my knowledge of the past. Although my current body was small, I knew it could adapt and strengthen over time. I quickly found discreet ways to train, such as doing simple exercises at home and taking advantage of any opportunity in the park to build my strength and agility. I was not going to let the current situation stop me from reaching my true potential.
As I walked home, I came across a strange-looking and suspicious man watching me from the street across the street. I decided to ignore it and went on my way. However, when I crossed the street and passed this man, I noticed that he started following me. I noticed because I heard footsteps crawling behind me.
The system notification rang out, taking me a bit of a surprise. Now what?
[Defeat the man with
hidden intentions.]
[Low level]

Fast reflections.
Motivated, I quickly looked for a solution to escape this unhappy one. I thought about all the possible options and looked for the most feasible one. Finally, I found a solution: use my Initial Arcane Energy. He already had a pretty decent level in controlling this ability and had gone up seven levels in it. I was confident to deal with a drunken adult.
First, I had to go to an alley. I couldn't let anyone see me. It was totally illogical that a five-year-old could defeat a man, and more with so much control of his quirk. I shouldn't take any chances.
Then I pretended I hadn't seen the man following me and quickly headed for a nearby alley. Once there, I quickly observed the alley environment to take advantage of anything I could use to my advantage. There were some trash cans and stacked boxes that could be useful.
Within seconds, the man entered the alley in a terrifying way, seeing me with an unpleasant desire.
— Child, why are you running? — he asked in a mocking tone.
However, I did not answer your question. I remained calm and prepared to execute my plan.
I concentrate my initial arcane energy and create a small magic barrier in front of me. He quickly used energy to launch projectiles at the man, pointing at his weak points.
— Fuck! Little bastard! —
The man lunged at me, knocking me to the ground. I feel the weight of his body crushing me and, for a moment, I thought I had failed. My mind is filled with despair, but I can't afford to give up.
In the midst of the fight, I manage to release a hand and concentrate all my Initial Arcane Energy on a single, powerful projectile. I point directly at his face and launch the projectile with all my might. The impact is brutal and the man backs up, putting his hands to his face. I take advantage of that moment to roll out of reach and throw another projectile at him, this time pointing at his legs.
The man falls to the ground, screaming in pain. I can't afford to give him a chance to recover, so I quickly get up and channel the last part of my energy into a final projectile that hits him in the head, eventually knocking him unconscious.
I take a deep breath and watch the man fallen to the ground. My plan has worked perfectly, although for a moment I thought it would fail. I look at my weak hands, which are now hurt by the recent fight.
The adrenaline that has been running through my veins starts to go down, and I begin to feel the effects of having pushed my body to the limit. A stabbing pain spreads through my arms, and my muscles tremble with exhaustion. My breathing is heavy and choppy, as if every inhalation burns my lungs. I feel a slight dizziness and weakness that threatens to make me fall to the ground.
My body is not yet accustomed to the physical effort that comes with my Initial Arcane Energy and also push my resistance to its limits. This time, it was more than I could bear. The effort to channel energy, create barriers, and launch projectiles has left my body on the verge of collapse.
Still, I can't afford to fall here. I have to stand up, not only for my pride, but also for my safety. Slowly, I lean on the alley wall to regain some strength. Every beat of my heart rumbles in my ears, being the only thing I could hear.
After a few moments, the dizziness starts to subside and my hands stop shaking. I know I can't stay here long. I have to go home and make sure no one suspects anything.
With determination, I straighten up and start walking slowly, away from the alley and the unconscious man. I have overcome this challenge, but I know many more are to come. And I'll be ready to face them.
[mission completed.]
