Chapter 26: The Pendulum Mystery

The room was eerily silent. The killer's lifeless body lay in a pool of blood, the air thick with smoke and gunpowder.

Karan clutched Riya tightly, his hands still shaking. Aryan leaned against the wall, breathing heavily, trying to push through the pain of his wound. Naina stood still, her gun lowered, staring at the body, ensuring there were no last surprises.

It was finally over.

Or so they thought.

Aryan took a shaky step forward. His eyes scanned the ground, and that's when he saw it—something gleaming near the killer's body.

Frowning, he bent down and picked it up.

A pendulum.

A simple, silver pendulum, smooth and untouched by the chaos around them.

His fingers curled around it, and a chill ran down his spine.

"What is this?" he muttered.

Karan, noticing Aryan's expression, stepped closer. "What did you find?"

Aryan held up the pendulum. "This… was in his pocket."

Naina's eyes narrowed. She took the object from Aryan's hand, studying it carefully.

A flicker of recognition crossed her face.

Aryan noticed. "You've seen this before, haven't you?"

Naina exhaled slowly. "Yes," she admitted. "At other crime scenes."

Silence.

Riya's breath hitched. "You mean—this wasn't just his doing?"

Naina clenched her jaw. "If this pendulum was left at multiple crime scenes and now found on him… then it means there's more to this."

Karan's fists tightened. "Are you saying this guy wasn't working alone?"

Naina's voice was grim. "I'm saying we might have only caught one part of something bigger."

A heavy realization settled over them.

This wasn't the end.

It was only the beginning.
