The fire had finally died down, leaving behind nothing but charred remains and blackened rubble. The air still smelled of burnt flesh, melted metal, and ash. The explosion had completely erased the warehouse, leaving nothing of the killer's body except unrecognizable fragments.
Aryan stood at the edge of the wreckage, his mind still racing with the killer's last words.
"The Abyss has already chosen its next face."
It wasn't just taunting. It felt like a warning. A prophecy of something worse to come.
Naina walked up beside him, arms crossed. The glow of the flames reflected in her sharp eyes.
"You're thinking about what he said, aren't you?" she muttered.
Aryan clenched his fists. "He wasn't afraid of dying, Naina. He acted like he knew something we didn't."
Karan and Riya stood a few feet away, silent. Riya hadn't spoken much since they escaped. Her expression was distant, her hands trembling slightly despite Karan holding them tightly.
They had survived.
But something about this felt wrong.
Naina exhaled. "We need to check what's left."
"What's left?" Karan scoffed, still shaken. "The place is gone. There's nothing left of him."
"We can't take chances," Naina said firmly. "If he had accomplices, if there was anything important here, we need to find it. Now."
