I Made A Mistake

Marcus turned to Davin, gripping his hand firmly before helping him sign the agreement. "This is a deal between the Vampire King and the Alpha of all wolves," Marcus declared, his voice carrying authority.

He laughed heartily as the treaty was finalized, and Masafi approached him with a sly smile.

"How did you like the show?" Marcus asked her, his tone teasing.

Masafi chuckled and clapped her hands slowly. "It wasn't as exciting as I'd hoped, but I'll take it. How about this—let the next king's event be hosted by the vampires?"

"That hasn't been decided yet," Keren interjected, walking toward them with a sharp look.

Masafi tilted her head in amusement but said nothing.

"So, if the witches are now beneath the vampires, what about the demons?" Keren asked anxiously. Her voice was steady, but her question hinted at deep unease. Would the demons also become subordinates to the vampires?

Marcus raised a brow and smirked. "What do you think?"

Keren hesitated, shrugging her shoulders. She had only heard whispers about the demons, her grandparents told her that their powers were compared to known but she always doubted, but after witnessing Klaus defeat Davin—the most powerful wolf—she was starting to believe the rumors.

Would the demons bow to the vampires as well? or it was going to be the other way round?

"Keren, let it go," Alpha Thomas said, stepping forward. The tension in the air was thick, and he feared it might escalate into something far worse. "Let's get this party over with so everyone can leave in peace."

Lisa's gaze was focused on Klaus all along, then it shifted to Davin and he was so weak, her emotions swirling uncontrollably. Without a word, she turned and stormed out of the garden with Helen trailing behind her. The anger bubbling inside her felt unbearable.

Once inside her chambers, she yanked off her necklace and threw it on the table.

"I'm taking a bath," she muttered, her voice sharp with frustration.

Helen nodded then hurried to prepare the bath.

Lisa shut her eyes tightly, inhaling and exhaling deeply, trying to calm her racing thoughts. Why was she so angry? Was it because of the fight? Or was it because Davin had nearly lost his life?

She couldn't shake the growing suspicion that Davin was merely a pawn in Sia's game. She didn't fully realize it yet, but the seeds of doubt were there. What if he had been controlled all along and just like her, he was just a victim in Sia's game?

"It's ready," Helen called softly.

"You can leave," Lisa ordered, her voice curt.

Helen hesitated, worry etched on her face, but she eventually obeyed and left the room. Lisa undressed and slipped into the warm bath, closing her eyes to block out everything.

Her peace didn't last long.

A sudden shift in the wind's direction made her eyes snap open. She froze when she saw Klaus standing in the corner of the room, his piercing gaze fixed on her.

"Klaus…" Lisa stuttered, her voice trembling. She instinctively sank deeper into the water, trying to hide herself. "Why…why are you here?"

Klaus tilted his head slightly, his expression unreadable. "Why can't I be here?" he countered.

Lisa's cheeks burned as she averted her gaze. Well, she was just going to stay in the water until he leaves.

Klaus stepped closer, crouching to her eye level. His penetrating gaze made her heart race.

"Why were you angry?" he asked, his voice low.

"Angry?" Lisa forced a laugh. "I wasn't angry."

Klaus didn't buy her lie. "Were you scared for him?"

Lisa's hand nervously ran through her wet hair. "I... I wasn't."

"Do you wish to break free from me?" Klaus asked suddenly, his voice softer, yet it carried immense weight.

Lisa's eyes widened, and she quickly shook her head. "No! I don't..."

Klaus reached out and gently brushed a finger across her wet cheek. "I never give anyone a choice. But for you, I will."

Lisa blinked, unsure of what he meant.

"If, after the party, you choose to stay behind, I won't stop you. You can stay and care for that wolf," Klaus continued, his voice steady and calm. "But if you step into the carriage after the event, you'll belong to me. Forever."

Lisa's breath hitched as her eyes filled with tears. "Don't you care for me?" she asked, her voice trembling. "If I stay, I'll die. They need my blood to exchange for the shred mark."

Klaus nodded, his expression impassive. "The witches won't hurt you. The wolves won't either. You're safe now. You don't need me anymore."

Lisa's heart clenched painfully. "I never needed you to protect me," she whispered.

"Didn't you?" Klaus challenged. "You came back because I saved you from being killed. You stayed because you were afraid of the witches. But now it's over. You have a choice, Lisa Moonstar."

Klaus stood up, his presence towering over her.

"I have urgent matters to attend to at the legion. If I don't see you tomorrow at the palace, I'll assume you've made your choice. Goodbye, Lisa."

With that, he turned and left, leaving Lisa alone in the bath, stunned and confused.

Lisa quickly stood up and got dressed before she went after Klaus but he was gone, she only found Helen in her main chambers.

"Where is Klaus?" she asked.

"He returned to the legion" she replied and a tear rolled down Lisa's cheek, he really left.

Lisa couldn't believe Klaus had really return without her so she ran out of her chambers with Helen behind her.

"Klaus!" she yelled, her voice echoing through the halls.

Her cries gained attention from the others, but she didn't care. Water dripped from her damp hair as she ran toward the entrance, scanning the area frantically.

"Klaus, come back!" she shouted, her voice tinged with desperation.

Helen hurried after her, draping a sheet over her shoulders. "My lady, please calm down. We'll leave after the party, and you'll see him then," Helen reassured her and Lisa's brow furrowed.

That's right, he had given her a choice and it was left for her to chose. Helen and the other guards were still around, they could take her back to the legion.

Lisa's shoulders slumped as tears rolled down her cheeks. "I... I was scared," she admitted softly. "I thought he'd left for good."

Masafi approached, her sharp eyes filled with amusement. "Are you so obsessed with him that you can't have him out of your sight?"

Lisa stared down at her bare feet, realizing how foolish she must have looked running down the hall like some crazy lady.

Masafi smirked. "Go get dressed properly. Don't you know the Demon King's bride isn't supposed to expose her skin to others?"

Lisa stared at Masafi wondering how she knew so much about the demons, then she nodded, embarrassed. "I... I'll go now."

Once Lisa was back in her chambers, fully dressed and composed, she stood by the window, staring at the sky. She wished for a glimpse of Klaus's black cloak in the sky but-- nothing.

"Does he treat you right?" a familiar voice asked from the doorway.

Lisa turned swiftly to see Davin standing there, about to step into her chambers.

"Halt!" she snapped. "No man is allowed into my chambers except Klaus." she blurted, that was one of the rules for the demon queens, Ethan had told her.

Davin froze, stunned by her harsh tone. He clutched his chest, wincing from the pain of his earlier fight with Klaus.

"Lisa," Davin began, his voice strained. "I made a mistake. I want you back."

Lisa's eyes widened in shock. Was this real? Or was it another one of his schemes to lure her into a trap?
