Chapter 4

Damien finally stopped, looking at Fallon in disbelief. He quickly helped her up, his eyes full of tenderness.

"Fallon, what did you say? You're pregnant? I'm going to be a father again?"

Fallon gently caressed her belly, nodding slightly.

Damien smiled for the first time in days. He took a locket from around his neck and placed it in Fallon's palm.

That locket was something he had obtained after climbing 1000 steps and kowtowing 100 times when his son was born, to bless his son with a life of peace and safety.

After his son's death, it had become his only memento, always worn around his neck.

But now, he had given it to someone else.

"Faye, kneel down! Apologize to Fallon and kowtow!"

Damien turned to look at me, his earlier smile now frozen into ice.

"What? You won't kneel? If you don't, I'll make your man kneel instead!"

Damien ordered his men to hold Nolan's arms and force him to kneel.

I had already caused him to be beaten; I couldn't let him be humiliated for me again.

I dropped to my knees with a thud. Fallon looked at me, smiling softly.

"Brother, don't be angry. Big sister is probably just envious that I'm pregnant, after all, she lost her child too.""Damien, why don't we find him a boyfriend right here? That way, sis won't have to go out working anymore. We'd be doing a good deed and earning some karma for our sweetheart! What do you think?"

Damien stared at me for a long time before dropping a bombshell.

"Faye, since Fallon's pleading for you, I'll grant your wish!"

"Today, I'm going to auction off my ex-wife for a boyfriend right here, starting at $100,000!"

The crowd below fell dead silent.

After a long pause, someone finally raised their hand.

"The chick looks pretty decent. I'll bid $100,000!"

"Then I'll go for $200,000! As long as she's good in bed!"

"I'll bid $300,000!"

Suddenly, shouts erupted from all directions.

"I'll bid $500,000!"

A balding man in his 50s stepped out from the crowd.

"I'll take her, but I need to sample the goods first."

Damien's eyes darkened further, but he made no move to intervene.

The old man approached with a sleazy grin, his fat hands groping my body.

I struggled to break free, but Damien's men held me down tightly, leaving me helpless.

My head was spinning, and all I could hear were the mocking and jeering shouts around me.

The shrapnel in my heart twisted painfully, threatening to burst out at any moment.Damien, on the other hand, stood motionless, his head turned away.

Nolan, who was also being held back nearby, finally couldn't stand it anymore and shouted:

"Let her go! Damien, don't you know she's about to die!"

"The heart in your body, she gave it to you!"

"What did you say? Say that again?"

Damien grabbed Nolan, shaking his body frantically.

"I said, she's about to die!"

Damien stood frozen in place, his lips moving a few times before he finally made a sound.

"What he said, it's all true, isn't it? You left me back then because you gave me your heart?"
