Chapter 10

He pulled out a ring and knelt before me.

"Faye, marry me."

"Be my bride once more. Promise me you'll spend the rest of your life with me, will you?"

That night, we cuddled and talked for hours, neither of us wanting it to end.

But when I woke up early the next morning, Damien was gone.

That day, Nolan came back again, saying a suitable heart had become available overseas. Damien had to go abroad to take care of some paperwork and asked him to look after me.

Sure enough, the hospital called the next day, saying they finally had a heart and asked me to rush over for surgery.

Still unable to reach Damien, I could only go ahead with the surgery at Nolan's urging.

The operation went very smoothly. When I woke up, there was a familiar feeling in my body.

I asked the doctor why I had this strange sensation. The doctor simply said it might be due to a high degree of compatibility, so I didn't think much of it.
