He fell silent, his gaze fixed on me with an unusual look.

I was exhausted from cursing and hitting him.

I shot him a fierce glare and snapped irritably, "If you still want to die, go ahead. Don't expect me to save you again this time."

I turned to leave, but he grabbed the hem of my shirt.

I glared at him, but before I could speak, he pitifully pointed to his swollen, red cheek where I had slapped him and mumbled unclearly, "You've beaten me to a pulp. Aren't you going to take me to the hospital for treatment?"

I laughed bitterly, suddenly feeling the urge to beat him up again.

In the end, I still took him to the hospital.

The doctor looked at his swollen face, noticing the obvious handprint, and gave me a weird look, muttering, "Girls these days, such hot tempers!"

I felt embarrassed, not knowing how to explain.

Especially when Ethan's parents rushed to the hospital after hearing the news, they were completely stunned seeing Ethan's swollen face.

This scene made me so uncomfortable I could've dug a three-bedroom apartment with my toes right there on the floor.

Fortunately, Ethan's parents weren't unreasonable people and repeatedly thanked me.

I thought that after this, Ethan and I wouldn't have any more interactions.However, this guy started sticking to me like a leech.

He said, "I can never repay your life-saving kindness. I can only offer myself to you."

I thought he was joking, but he was dead serious.

In less than a year, I fell for his relentless pursuit.

Later, through our hard work, the Winters family rose again. The company grew even bigger than before, and our lives kept getting better.

He proposed to me, and I said yes.

At our wedding, he looked at me lovingly and said, "You are my one and only in this life. I only wish to grow old hand in hand with you."

At that time, I was happy.

But this happiness was short-lived.

A few years into our marriage, I found out he had several women on the side. He even secretly introduced Cadence and her son to his parents, adding that child to the Winters family registry.

I had a huge fight with Ethan. He said to me impatiently, "You can't have children. I just wanted to have a child, that's all."

"You're still my wife. No one can take that position from you.""But my parents adore the child I have with Cadence. They're getting on in years and want a grandchild around to keep them company in their golden days. So I have to give that kid legitimacy."
