Sell Me!

Her aunt wants to find a useless groom for her so that they can control her inheritance through her groom. A woman did not have the right to buy properties or take financial decisions. If her husband did not support her, she would not be able to use her own money and live a miserable life!

But if she wanted to retaliate. She had to defeat them in their own game. She had to find a better groom for herself and announce it to the world. But not everyone could stand against a marquis!

Except one! Duke of Ardenland, Adam Silverworth. The man was the illegitimate son of the king and held a good power in the kingdom. No one would dare to cross him. Not even her uncle.

If only she could get a chance and seduce this man. She would have no worry about her inheritance. He had more power, more wealth and more strength than her. So he would not be greedy of what belonged to her. As long as she could offer him a good deal, they could get married. She could sign a contract with him.

But for that… she had to find his one weakness. Or offer something in return. But before that, she had to approach him and leave an impression.

Penny rubbed her sweaty hands on her gown and smiled at them. Adam raised a brow as he looked at her extended hands and just when she thought that he would not accept it, he smiled.

"It is rare for a girl to take the initiative. I am surprised to see it so I hope you forgive my late reply." he smiled at her. But that was not the only thing that made her knees weak.

The man was beyond handsome. His golden hair and blue eyes were so electrifying that one could feel their heart stop just by looking at him. His arched brows, cold eyes, pointed nose and sharp jawline was beyond comparison. But what compelled everyone was his smile.

He never seems to be angry even with his enemies. He had a strong position in the social world and it had nothing to do with his royal blood. Women would sigh just by looking at his face.

But Penny was staring at him because of his voice. It felt oddly familiar to the voice she had heard in the corridor. As if she had finally remembered, her uncle had greeted the man as his grace.

There were only three dukes in the empire and one of them was too old. Though duke Forchesitre was also here, she could see him sitting in the corner and speaking with a few nobles.

He was not the one with her uncle. This man was!

"My lady." Penny blinked and noticed that Adam had already placed his hand on hers. And now he was looking at her curiously. As if asking why she was not taking him to the dance floor, the man stared at her intently.

"Do you not want to dance anymore, my lady?" The man smiled sweetly and looked harmless.

Who would believe that he was guiding her uncle to sell her and asked for half her wealth for helping her uncle.

He talked about her as if she was nothing but an object. Penny noticed everyone's gaze and gulped a lump down her throat.

She had never regretted her decision this much. Nodding, she followed his lead and walked toward the dance floor.

Many couples were waiting for her, the star of the event, to dance so that they could follow. Nat's eyes looked here and there as if she was looking for an excuse.

She found her aunt brooding in the corner. When their eyes met, the woman scowled and gave a death glare to Penny. Penny looked away instantly.

"My lady, are you alright?" she heard Adam ask again. If only she could speak the truth and ask him why he helped her family in selling her?

Penny forced a nod and then placed her hand on his shoulders. The man smiled further and pulled her closer by her waist. Penny's heart skipped a beat when she felt his breath on her skin.

Penny was called tall for girls, but the man was taller than her to the point that she had to raise her head to meet his eyes. She could not help but wonder why!?

"Are you worried about something my lady?" his smile, his eyes, his face, everything about him looked so kind, so caring that penny felt she had seen a dream. Or she had failed to recognize the voice correctly. The music softly started and the man moved. He was gliding! There was no way one could move this smoothly!

Penny nodded while looking at him. The man looked intrigued by her reply. Most of the time, girls refuse when they are asked about her problems by a stranger.

"May I help you?" he offered that kind look once again as their bodies started to sway together with the music.

To his surprise and humor, Penny nodded once again. She looked at his eyes intently as if wanting to confirm if his next words were true or not.

The man felt her dark gaze and his lips curled.

"How may I help you, my lady?" he asked like a knight in shining armor. But Penny knew, he was a dark night dressed like a daydream. Her knight in shining armor has fallen from his horse and died.

She had nothing but herself to rely on.

"I wanted to know why my lord?" she asked in an innocent voice. He furrowed his brows as he did not understand what she was asking.

"Why is a strong man trying to sell me to my aunt and uncle? What do you lack in your life that you need after destroying my future!?"
