Kira locked eyes with Liam. ‘I know I’m not the smartest person in the world. If someone like me can figure this out, I can’t believe the same thought never crossed your mind. You had to know Henry was a more plausible suspect than Charlotte.’
Liam was breathing heavily.
The veins on the side of his neck pulsated.
Kira was unfazed.
‘I think you chickened out. You knew in your heart that Henry was responsible for your mother’s death. You just didn’t want to admit it. You didn’t want to have a murderer for a father. So you turned a blind eye to the truth and redirected your anger onto Charlotte.’
‘Shut up!’ Liam yelled in her face.
Kira didn’t flinch.
After her father died, she had given up on the luxury of feeling afraid.
She could no longer seek shelter in her father’s warm embrace.
From now on, she had to fight her own battles.
