In his eyes, Emma was a girl who had dropped out of campus early, with little education, helping her father in the supermarket. He could hardly believe his son would make inappropriate advances toward such a girl!
As Emma listened to Oliver Hampton speak, her eyes dimmed slightly. She could feel the scorn in his words.
“Eleanor, your heart must be in tatters for your useless brother. Even though you’ve brought the witness here, she’s already made her statement at the police station and identified Charles. Now, do you want her to change her testimony and accuse my brother instead? If so, I have to suspect that you’ve bribed her,” Abigail said, unable to restrain herself, her tone methodical and biting.
Her argument was so logical that even the elder couldn’t help but nod. “Eleanor, haven’t you already bribed her by bringing the witness here? Her words can’t be trusted…”
