Although she had disguised herself, her face hidden beneath layers of fabric, Eleanor couldn't shake the unease gnawing at her. Robert’s insight had always been extraordinarily sharp. He possessed a pair of deep eyes that seemed to see through everything, and under his gaze, even the bravest could feel their scalp tingle.
Though far from ordinary, Eleanor found herself avoiding eye contact with him. No matter how slight, there was a risk that her disguise might not be enough. Robert knew her eyes too well. And she certainly didn't want to expose herself in front of everyone.
He was the greatest threat to her deception.
“When treating a patient, I prefer not to be watched. I’d appreciate it if everyone could leave the room,” Eleanor regained her composure, her tone indifferent yet firm.
