Chapter 278 Bargaining with Shadows

Because of one person, Eleanor’s heart was laid bare. She didn’t care about herself anymore—all that mattered now was Robert's safety.

Her voice was steady, but the weight of her words carried a desperation she couldn’t hide. “Don’t you dare touch him, Tell me what you want. I’ll give it to you.”

Samuel paused his brow raising ever so slightly. A flicker of surprise crossed his face before he twisted it into a cruel smile.

“Really? So protective, aren’t we?” He clicked his tongue, almost amused. “I didn’t realize you cared so deeply for him.

But... wasn’t it just a sham? A facade?”

He leaned closer, eyes gleaming with something dark. “Or is it that you’ve fallen for him... after all?”

Eleanor’s lips tightened into a thin line. Silence stretched between them like a taut wire ready to snap. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she nodded once, slow and deliberate. “Think whatever you like. It doesn’t change anything.”
