Hearing his words, Eleanor turned her head, her gaze drifting to the man beside her. Her eyes shone with a mix of curiosity and emotion.
Robert hadn’t told her what day it was.
Deciding to play coy, Eleanor tilted her head slightly, her lips curving into a teasing smile. "I don’t know," she said innocently.
To her surprise, Robert frowned slightly, narrowing his eyes. “You really don’t know?” His voice was both skeptical and amused.
Feeling a twinge of guilt, Eleanor bit her lip, her eyes flickering. "Of course! I've been so busy these past few days…"
Robert’s expression softened into an amused smirk, his gaze warm yet teasing. “Really?”
"Absolutely true!" Eleanor added with a bit more enthusiasm, her tone almost playful.
He studied her quietly for a moment, clearly seeing through her charade but choosing not to expose her. Instead, his deep voice was direct but gentle. “Today’s my birthday.”
Eleanor feigned surprise, letting out a light laugh. "Is it?"
