The shadow lurking in Samuel’s eyes warned Linda of the risks. This was not a man who granted favors lightly, and whatever he wanted would come at a high cost.
After a pause, Linda squared her shoulders, meeting Samuel’s gaze with newfound resolve. “What do you want me to do?”
Samuel’s lips curled into a slow, sinister smile, one that chilled her to the core.
“Good,” he murmured, satisfaction oozing from his voice. “You’ll know soon enough.” Linda’s eyes widened slightly, leaving her momentarily speechless as the silence between them stretched, thick and unyielding.
Finally, Linda drew a deep breath, and with determination clear in her voice, she spoke. “Okay, I agree.”
