Eleanor cut herself off mid-thought and pressed the answer key on her phone.
"Eleanor."
The voice on the other end was Ronald's.
"Have you gone home already?" His tone was low and thoughtful.
"Mm." Eleanor nodded, even though he couldn’t see her.
"Eleanor, today’s events were... quite unexpected." Ronald sighed softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Amelia will face consequences, but we––"
"We won’t change," Eleanor interjected, finishing his thought.
A gentle chuckle seemed to drift from Ronald’s end of the line. "We’re still your uncles, Eleanor. We care for you deeply. Blood ties or not, that will never change."
It was clear the Anderson brothers wanted to reassure Eleanor. Today's revelations, shocking as they were, would not alter their bond with her. Just as shocked and angry at Amelia’s actions as Eleanor was, they wanted her to know that her place in their lives was untouched.
