Eleanor’s deliberate disappearance gnawed at Robert’s composure, leaving his heart adrift in an unrelenting storm. The cold silence of Williams Court seemed to amplify his frustration, its halls a prison of his own thoughts. Staying there would only intensify the ache in his chest, a constant reminder of her absence.

“If she doesn’t want to be found, even the best efforts won’t uncover her,” Robert muttered under his breath, his voice low and tinged with resignation.

Still, his command to Jacob was resolute. “Keep searching for her,” he instructed, his gaze wandering to the vast, inky expanse of the night sky. “Report to me immediately if there’s any progress.”

He didn’t wait for a response. With a measured stride, he made his way toward the parking lot.
