Chapter 439 Chains of Betrayal

Robert hadn't heard Samuel call him "brother" in a while.

He stood still, his dark eyes fixed on the man before him. Samuel, despite the days that had passed, looked much the same. Yet, his gaze was darker now, shadowed by something deeper—something more dangerous.

Samuel leaned slightly on his cane, his posture still elegant despite his injury. His eyes, half-lidded and unreadable, held an unsettling gloom. The two brothers stared at each other, their silence thick with tension.

"I suddenly feel a bit of regret," Robert finally broke the stillness, his voice cool and unhurried.

Samuel arched a brow, a knowing smirk playing at his lips. "Regret for coming here?"

Robert's eyes narrowed slightly, his sharp features catching the last remnants of fading light. "Regret for not completely breaking your leg when I had the chance."

The words cut through the air like a blade. Cold. Unforgiving.
