Morris squinted slightly, a faint smile tugging at his lips as he said, “Congratulations, you won’t die.”

Eleanor lowered her gaze, silent. Her dark hair cascaded over her face, concealing the sorrow deep within her eyes.

She didn’t feel relieved.

Susan had died.

Her own survival came at the cost of another’s life.

Morris understood her thoughts and sighed softly. “What’s done cannot be undone. You have to look forward.”

Eleanor’s eyelashes quivered as she spoke, her voice barely audible. “What about Susan? How did you… handle things?”

“She’s already been buried.” Morris’s tone turned heavier, his eyes darkening. “The island’s heat and humidity aren’t ideal… We had to lay her to rest quickly. You were unconscious for two whole days and missed it.”

Eleanor remained quiet, listening intently.

“But don’t worry,” Morris continued. “I found a serene and well balanced place for her. She’ll rest peacefully.” His brows furrowed slightly, revealing a faint sorrow of his own.
