Eleanor had full confidence in Lilly.
Despite the little girl’s delicate appearance, she was tough, spirited, and surprisingly mature for her age. That resilience was precisely why Eleanor felt reassured, leaving her behind. Lilly might have been small, but she had a brave heart.
“I understand. I’ll take care of her,” Simon’s voice came through the phone, calm and composed, yet filled with quiet resolve. “But… when do you plan to come back?”
Eleanor hesitated.
She glanced out the window, watching the golden afternoon light filter through the curtains.
“I’m not sure yet,” she admitted after a pause. “Leo and I are safe for now, but there are still things I need to deal with before we can return.”
“Alright,” Simon replied gently. “Just keep me updated.”
“Thank you, Simon.” Eleanor’s voice was low, but sincere.
