Chapter 24

The Truth Unleashed

The cold night air stung my skin as I sprinted through the empty streets, the faint echo of the alarm still ringing in my ears. My heart pounded, every beat reminding me of what was at stake. The flash drive Olivia had given me was tucked securely in my pocket—a weapon more powerful than any bullet. With it, I could tear down the Shadows from the inside out.

I didn't stop running until I reached the edge of the city. My hands trembled as I pulled out my phone, knowing exactly who to call. There was only one person I could trust now—Detective Marcus Reed. He'd been chasing the Shadows for years but could never get close enough. Until now.

The line clicked after the second ring. "Sarah?" His voice was tight with urgency. "Where the hell have you been?"

"I have everything you need," I said, breathless. "Proof of their operations—names, transactions, even their leadership structure. But I'm being hunted. I need your help."

A pause. Then, "Where are you?"

I rattled off my location. "And Marcus… they won't stop until I'm dead. We have to move fast."

"Stay put. I'm on my way," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

I tucked the phone back into my jacket and leaned against the wall, exhaustion creeping in. My body ached, but the fire inside me burned brighter. I wasn't just running anymore—I was fighting back. And I wouldn't stop until every last piece of their empire crumbled.

Minutes stretched into eternity until the distant rumble of a car broke the silence. Headlights flashed across my face as a black sedan pulled up. The driver's door opened, and Marcus stepped out—tall, broad-shouldered, and looking every bit the hardened detective. His sharp eyes scanned the area before settling on me.

"Get in," he said, opening the passenger door.

I didn't hesitate. As soon as the door shut behind me, he sped off, his jaw tight with focus.

"Talk," he demanded.

I pulled out the flash drive, holding it between us. "This has everything. Olivia gave it to me before I escaped."

He glanced at me sharply. "Olivia? She's working with them."

"Not anymore," I said softly. "She's risking her life to bring them down."

His knuckles whitened on the steering wheel. "If this is real, Sarah… you've just put a target on your back that no one can erase."

"I know," I whispered. "But I won't live in fear anymore."

We drove in silence until we reached a secure government facility. Marcus led me inside, weaving through sterile hallways until we entered a high-tech operations room buzzing with agents. He slid the flash drive into a computer, and I held my breath as the files loaded.

The screen flooded with evidence—bank records, secret meetings, and the names of people I had once thought untouchable. My stomach twisted when Victor's name appeared at the top. He wasn't just a pawn—he was one of the masterminds.

"Jesus Christ," Marcus muttered, his face pale. "This is bigger than I ever imagined."

I met his gaze, my voice steady. "Now do you believe me?"

He nodded grimly. "We take this public. We end them."

For the first time in months, hope flickered inside me. The Shadows had stolen my innocence, my peace—but they wouldn't steal my future.

And with the truth finally unleashed, they couldn't hide anymore.
