Day 6: House Interest & Invitations

The House Selection Event had finally come to an end. As the sun dipped below the horizon, students gathered in the main hall, murmuring among themselves. Anticipation filled the air—this was the moment they had all been waiting for.

Hoshino Mei stood at the front, a composed smile on her face as she raised a hand to quiet the room. "The House Selection Event is now officially over. I hope you all gave it your best effort."

The murmurs died down as she continued. "Each House has now finalized their selections. Students who have been invited will receive their offers privately within the next hour. If you receive multiple invitations, you must inform your chosen House leader of your decision by tomorrow night. The formal induction ceremony will take place in two days. Until then, you are free to rest and reflect on your choices. Congratulations on completing this stage."

With that, the room buzzed back to life. The tension was thick—students wondered who had received invitations, which House they would end up in, and whether friendships would be tested by their decisions.

Private Invitations

Shortly after the announcement, Kazuki and the others received their respective invitations.

Kazuki: Seiryu (Azure Dragons) & Yami no Kiba (Shadow Fangs)

Daiki: Raijin (Thunder Beasts)

Reo: Suzaku (Crimson Phoenixes)

Naoto: Seiryu (Azure Dragons)

Kyouya: Raijin (Thunder Beasts) & Yami no Kiba (Shadow Fangs)

Miyuki: Seiryu (Azure Dragons) & Suzaku (Crimson Phoenixes)

Kazuki stared at the two invitations displayed on his phone. Seiryu made sense—they valued intellect and strategy, something he had demonstrated throughout the event. But Yami no Kiba… he hadn't expected them to be interested in him. He had thought of them as mysterious and calculating, but at the same time, there was something about their presence that intrigued him.

Kyouya, sitting across from him in his dorm room, sighed as he studied his own screen. "Seems like we both have a tough decision to make."

Daiki stretched lazily on Kazuki's bed. "Man, I don't even have to think about it. Raijin picked me, and I'm all in."

Reo smirked. "Of course, the hot-blooded sports guy gets picked by the thunder beasts."

Naoto adjusted his glasses. "No surprises here either. Seiryu's invitation was expected."

"What about Miyuki?" Kyouya asked casually, glancing at Kazuki.

Kazuki already knew. He had checked as soon as he received his own. "Seiryu and Suzaku."

Reo raised an eyebrow. "Bet she picks Seiryu."

Kazuki remained silent. He knew Miyuki—her elegance, intelligence, and composed nature aligned perfectly with Seiryu's values. If anything, the fact that Suzaku had also extended an invitation was a bit surprising.

Daiki sat up. "So, what about you two? Kazu, Kyouya?"

Kyouya exhaled. "I was leaning toward Raijin, but Yami no Kiba reaching out is unexpected."

Kazuki thought for a moment before speaking. "I think… I'm going with Yami no Kiba."

A pause filled the room. Kyouya gave him a knowing look. "Same."

Daiki frowned. "Huh? Not Seiryu? Bro, you aced the logic events."

"Seiryu is great, but… Yami no Kiba interests me more," Kazuki admitted. "I feel like I'd grow more there."

Kyouya nodded. "I was thinking the same. Raijin's strong, but Yami no Kiba's approach is different. They look at things from the shadows. I like that."

Daiki shrugged. "Well, if you two are joining the dark side, good luck."

After some more banter and debating, everyone finally sent their responses to their respective House leaders. The decisions were locked in.

Later that night, Kazuki found himself walking toward the vending machines. He wasn't even particularly thirsty—his mind was just restless. The decision felt right, but there was still something lingering in the back of his mind.

As he turned the corner, he wasn't surprised to see Miyuki standing there, delicately opening a can of hot tea. He had noticed this habit of hers before, always coming to the vending machine late at night for a warm drink.

She noticed him and offered a small smile. "Couldn't sleep?"

Kazuki leaned against the machine. "Something like that. You?"

"Just a habit," she admitted, taking a sip of her tea. "Did you make your decision?"

"Yeah. Yami no Kiba."

Miyuki nodded slowly, as if expecting his answer. "I chose Seiryu."

He had known it was coming, but hearing it still made it feel more real. They were going to be in different Houses.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The quiet hum of the vending machine and the faint sounds of the night filled the space between them.

"I think it suits you," Kazuki said finally. "Seiryu, I mean."

Miyuki glanced at him, then smiled softly. "And I think Yami no Kiba suits you."

Something about the way she said it made his chest feel tight. She wasn't disappointed or distant—she simply accepted it as the natural course of things.

Kazuki chuckled lightly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Guess this means we'll be rivals now."

Miyuki tilted her head, considering for a moment before tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Not necessarily. Different Houses don't mean we can't still—"

She hesitated, then shook her head. "Never mind."

Kazuki looked at her curiously but didn't press. He simply watched as she took another slow sip of her tea.

In that moment, he made a silent promise to himself—no matter what, even if they were in different Houses, he wouldn't let that change what he felt for her.

The night continued in quiet companionship, the two of them simply standing there, wrapped in the unspoken understanding between them.
