Mira sat at her desk, parchment and ink spread before her. The soft golden glow of Olympus' eternal day streamed through the windows, illuminating the neatly drawn blueprints of Artemis' temple.
"Alright, let's go over this one more time."
She tapped the quill against her chin, muttering facts under her breath.
---
[Target: Artemis' Bow – The Moonlit Huntress]
Forged by Hephaestus, enchanted by Selene.
Can only be drawn by someone Artemis acknowledges. (Which is NOT me.)
Stored within her private quarters when not in use.
Guarded by sacred hounds and enchanted traps.
Obscure Fact: The bow resonates strongest during the full moon. (Next full moon is in two days.)
Obscure Fact: Artemis often visits the Great Oak Grove every evening before sundown. (Best time to sneak in? Right before sunset.)
---
Mira grinned.
"Perfect. That gives me a small window to slip in, grab the bow, and get out before she notices."
She leaned back, folding her arms.
The Helmet of Invisibility was ready. She had the element of surprise. All that was left was—
A distraction.
And that was where her new trickster affinity came in.
Before she could even think of who to ask, a familiar gust of wind swept through her room, and a playful voice chuckled behind her.
"Planning mischief again, little goddess?"
Mira didn't even flinch.
Hermes.
The Messenger God lounged in mid-air like it was a comfortable couch, arms folded behind his head. His winged sandals hovered inches above the ground, and his golden eyes sparkled with amusement.
"What are you up to this time?" he asked, tilting his head.
Mira smirked.
"If I tell you, you have to help me."
Hermes raised an eyebrow.
"You're using my own tactics against me? I'm impressed. But I don't make deals without knowing the stakes."
Mira sighed dramatically.
"Fine. I need a distraction for Artemis. Nothing too crazy, just enough to keep her occupied for a while."
Hermes burst into laughter.
"You're trying to steal from Artemis?!" he wiped a tear from his eye. "Oh, this is good. This is REALLY good."
Mira rolled her eyes.
"Are you going to help or not?"
Hermes grinned.
"Depends. What's in it for me?"
Mira tapped her chin, thinking fast.
Hermes loved three things: chaos, wagers, and favors.
"How about a bet?" she said.
His eyes gleamed.
"I'm listening."
"If I pull this off and get the bow, you owe me a favor."
Hermes raised an eyebrow.
"And if you fail?"
Mira smirked.
"Then I owe you a favor."
The trickster god's grin widened.
"Oh, I like this. Alright, little goddess, you've got yourself a deal."
He offered his hand, and Mira shook it without hesitation.
As soon as their hands clasped, a golden glow wrapped around them—a divine contract.
[Side Quest Activated: Hermes' Wager]
Objective: Steal Artemis' Bow without getting caught.
Reward: Hermes' Favor (???)
Failure Penalty: Owe Hermes a Favor.
Mira swallowed.
She had one chance to pull this off.
Hermes winked.
"Good luck, little goddess. You're going to need it."
And with that, he disappeared in a flash of golden light.
Mira exhaled, staring at her now-sealed fate.
"Well… no turning back now."
Tomorrow night, she would steal from the Huntress herself.
