Bullying others with power

Alex understood Mr. Rayden's character.

Even though Mr. Rayden knew that Adam's actions were reckless and would lead to a huge problem, Adam was, after all, still his son. How could he possibly let his son bow down and apologize to a mere subordinate? That was unthinkable!

So, Mr. Rayden was testing him. If Alex had calmly accepted Adam's bow while sitting on the chair, the next person to walk out of the darkness would not have been Adam!

That's why Alex did what he did.

He also noticed, as he helped Adam up, that a glance was exchanged between Adam and his father, Mr. Rayden.

"Hmph!" A cold snort came from Mr. Rayden's mouth.

Alex knew that this cold snort was half directed at Adam and half directed at the others hiding in the shadow.

"You little brat! Next time you do something, use your brain more! If you're unsure, you can consult with Alex. Alright! You both can leave now! Alex, you stay."

You both!

When Alex heard this, he breathed a small sigh of relief. Sure enough, Adam nodded and turned to leave. After opening the door, four men in black suits followed him out!

These four men in black were Alex's executioners!

Alex knew that with this, he could rely on the Rayden family even more solidly. He naturally sat down in the chair opposite Mr. Rayden.

Mr. Rayden casually pointed to the table and said: "Keep this dagger. You might find it useful in the future."

"Hmm?" Hearing this, Alex raised an eyebrow slightly, a flicker of light that no one else noticed flashing in his eyes.

He was familiar with the plot of the entire novel.

He knew very well that this dagger was a symbol of Mr. Rayden's status! With this dagger, on the stage of the entire Laplace city, it meant: "You are one of Mr. Rayden's people!"

This could be considered a lower-grade version of the Royal decree!

Alex hadn't expected Mr. Rayden to give him this dagger.

But after thinking carefully, it made sense.

Alex had indeed saved Adam this time.

Moreover, he had helped the Rayden family avoid trouble and the chance of being caught by others!

Although the matter would have been resolved without Alex, the Rayden family would have had to spend considerable financial and human resources.

Mr. Rayden then pulled out a car key from the drawer, pushed it in front of Alex, and said: "Take this car. If anything comes up, I want you to come to me immediately."

"Understood, boss."

Without any hesitation, Alex took the car key and put it in his pocket.

A BMW X5.

A car worth one to two million, which was something that Alex couldn't even dream of touching in both his previous and current life. But for someone with Mr. Rayden's wealth, this was merely a drop in the ocean.

Now that he had become part of the "car-owning class," Alex couldn't help but feel a little excited. However, Alex knew that in this world of novels, even if he was given another BMW X5, it wouldn't be as valuable as the dagger stuck in the table!

After a few more instructions, Mr. Rayden let Alex leave with the dagger.

As soon as he turned the corner after leaving the study, he ran into a man in a black suit, with a fierce look on his face.

Alex recognized this man—it was Rio, Adam's personal bodyguard and Mr. Rayden's top enforcer. Because of his status, Rio was used to swaggering around among the lower and middle ranks of the Rayden family's subordinates.

And today was no exception.

Rio, frowning, took arrogant strides and blocked Alex's path.

In a deep voice, he said: "You're Alex, right? The young master …"

His words stopped abruptly.

Because he noticed, Alex was playing with a shiny dagger in his hand.

And this dagger was Mr. Rayden's …

Suddenly!

Rio's arms, which were hanging by his sides, crossed in front of his abdomen.

Then he slightly lowered his head and said: "Brother Alex, Young Master Adam is waiting for you in the side hall."

This 180-degree change in attitude happened within just a few seconds!

With a faint smile on his lips, Alex raised his hand, gently patted Rio's shoulder, and said: "In the future, don't walk around so aggressively. It makes it obvious to outsiders that you're up to no good."

Hearing Alex's words, Rio's eye twitched slightly.

But he held back and even nodded, saying: "Thank you, Brother Alex, for your teachings."

Alex left without looking back, but the smile in his eyes was undeniable!

Who was Rio? The top enforcer! Every day, he flaunted his strength and the fact that he was Adam's personal bodyguard!

Even before, Alex had to call him "Brother Rio" when he saw him!

As if he were the boss under Adam! But now? How about now? He just got called out to his face as "not a good guy," and did he dare have a temper?

Alex tucked the dagger away: "The feeling of bullying others with power is truly exhilarating!!"

Every time, reading novels and watching TV shows, seeing the lackeys bullying others, would make him grit his teeth in anger.

But now, it seems, the pleasure of bullying others with power is something you simply can't imagine, you know?

"If this continues, then I might become addicted to it."
