Chapter 42: Under Pressure

The weight of success was beginning to press down on Blackhaven FC.

Whispers of transfer offers swirled through the squad like an invisible storm. Aidan Gallagher's recent performances had caught the attention of bigger clubs. Callum Shaw was rumored to be on the radar of a Premier League team. Even Oliver Hayes, their steadfast goalkeeper, had been mentioned in reports linking him to an overseas move.

Trust began to waver. Players exchanged glances in the dressing room, unspoken thoughts lingering in the air. Were they all still committed to the club? Or were some already planning their next move?

Daisuke knew he had to step in before the tension fractured the team's cohesion.

At the training ground, the usual energy was missing. Passes were sloppy. Communication was off.

Daisuke clapped his hands sharply, gathering the squad.

"I know what's going on," he said, scanning their faces. "You're hearing rumors. Maybe some of you are even thinking about what's next."

A few players exchanged awkward glances. No one spoke.

"That's natural. You're playing well. People are noticing," Daisuke continued. "But right now, this badge—" he pointed to the Blackhaven crest on his jacket "—is what matters. If you're thinking about anything else, you won't be at your best."

Silence.

Then, Marco Silva spoke up. "So we shut it out and focus?"

Daisuke nodded. "Exactly. If you perform, the right opportunities will come—when the time is right. Until then, we're fighting for each other. For this team."

Aidan exhaled and gave a nod. Callum rolled his shoulders, tension easing. The message was received.

Later that evening, Daisuke met with the board to discuss an unexpected development—Blackhaven's financial situation was improving faster than anticipated.

Ticket sales had surged. Merchandising was at an all-time high. And now, sponsors were knocking on their door, eager to associate with the club's meteoric rise.

"This is huge," one of the directors said. "It gives us room to strengthen the squad in January."

Daisuke leaned back in his chair, contemplating. The extra funds were a blessing—but they also meant decisions would need to be made. Did he reinforce the squad? Did he fight to keep key players?

For now, he focused on the immediate task—keeping Blackhaven's momentum alive.

With pressure mounting, Daisuke found himself seeking calm in the one person who had always been his anchor—Hana.

She met him outside the training ground, her presence easing the weight on his shoulders.

"You look exhausted," she murmured, touching his arm.

He sighed. "There's just… a lot."

She gave him a knowing look. "And you're carrying all of it alone."

He glanced at her, a small smile tugging at his lips. "I've always been like that."

Hana stepped closer, her voice softer. "You don't have to be."

For a moment, the world faded. The stress, the expectations—it all took a backseat as he leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips.

A reminder that, despite everything, he wasn't alone.

The stadium lights loomed ahead as the team bus arrived. The tension was back—but this time, it wasn't from internal doubts.

It was from the battle ahead.

Daisuke stepped off the bus, his eyes locked on the stadium entrance. The players followed behind him, more determined than ever.

Blackhaven was ready to prove itself again.
