Ruby’s Gambit

After being put down, Ruby leaned against the wall and said, "Are you threatening me? What did I do wrong?"

"If your boyfriend knows that you've given that drink to someone else, will he be angry?"

"I'm curious. Why would a man drug his girlfriend? Is he trying to do something romantic or hurt you?"

The man's cold face had a hint of sarcasm. Ruby believed he was mocking her. "Angry? They deserve it!"

Ruby said furiously, "That's none of your business."The man pinched Ruby's cheek.

Ruby was surprised that the man knew Travon had a backer. She remained calm on the surface and said, "I know. I will take the time to destroy him!"
