Chapter 12 Worthless husband?

Chapter -12

The kiss starts tentatively, almost questioningly, but quickly deepens into something more passionate. Aleena's tongue darts out, tracing the seam of Lucien's lips before slipping inside to tangle with his. The kiss slowly transforms into a hungry, desperate desire that has been building in her heart for years.

However, just as they both thought they could take this much further than just a kiss, the door creaks open, shattering the intimate moment between Lucien and Aleena. The kiss breaks, and Aleena begins to breathe heavily, turning her gaze toward the door where she sees her husband looking in her direction.

However contrary to her expectation there is no reaction whatsoever on his face, as if he doesn't care.

Though Aleena never intended to do this to get revenge on her husband, seeing his indifferent attitude even after witnessing his wife kissing another man causes a tinge of pain in her heart. With that, the last straw of love she had left for him is also gone.

Controlling her emotions and breathing heavily, Aleena acts surprised while still letting her hand rest on Lucien's neck.

"What are you two doing?" Gilbert asks, his voice calm as the sea. Aleena replies, finally stepping back and smoothing out her apron as if trying to erase some taboo evidence, "Nothing much. Lucien here was teaching me swordplay since you felt it was dangerous for me."

Gilbert stares at his wife for a moment, then says, "Ah, I see. Well, it's good to see that you two can help each other. Anyway, you should be careful while wielding the sword; it's not that easy."

Hearing Gilbert's words, Aleena feels a wave of nausea wash over her, so she bids farewell to the two of them and heads back toward her room, while muttering, 'How can he say it like that, he really doesn't care.'

With Aleena gone, Lucien looks at Gilbert for a moment and then says, "Sorry, but it's not what you think."

"I think I know what's going on here," Gilbert replies, making Lucien's heart tighten as he doesn't want to end things just yet. Didn't this guy say he would talk with those village people? But what Gilbert says next makes Lucien feel that this guy is really chasing after another woman, and Lucien definitely knows who she is. "Anyway, you see, Aleena is a rare beauty, and she has her needs, which I'm unable to fulfill since I have a duty toward this village and its people. This makes it difficult for me to give her a good amount of time."

Lucien stares at Gilbert, but he just gestures for him to come along and then offers him a drink. "Aleena is still young and has her desires. You two are young, and probably because of that, this has happened. Though this is not a situation where I should be this calm, since I'm a man burdened with the responsibility bestowed upon me by the village head, most of my time will go to her. So, I think I should also give Aleena the freedom she deserves."

Lucien sits there, flabbergasted. He can't fathom what is going on here. How can this guy leave his beautiful wife just because he desires another woman? Though Gilbert doesn't say that out loud, whenever the mention of the village head comes up, Lucien can see a flare of desire igniting in his eyes.

"I understand if she truly desires my love..." Lucien tries to say, but he can't manage it in the end, feeling somewhat self-conscious.

"No need to force yourself, Lucien. For now, you should rest. We both have to be ready for tomorrow." Noticing the hesitancy in Lucien's eyes, Gilbert feels complicated himself and decides that it is best to allow him some time to collect his thoughts. Moreover, now the image of the village head becomes even clearer; her domineering attitude really makes his heart race.

He doesn't even know when he became like this, but with Lucien's arrival, he can stop worrying about Aleena doing something foolish to come between his goal and focus on getting into the good graces of the village head, hoping to become her night partner.

Lucien, with just a nod of understanding, picked up the sword and made his way toward his room. Meanwhile, Gilbert watched him, a smile on his face as if he had transferred some of his heavy burden onto him. He muttered with a grin, "I didn't know he would come in handy like this."

As Lucien climbed the stairs, he couldn't help but recall the taste of Aleena's soft lips and the way she felt in his arms. The thought alone sent a shiver down his spine; but at the same time, thinking about Gilbert's attitude toward her made him feel a slight anger as well.

Sighing deeply and trying to push Gilbert out of his mind, he entered the room and threw himself onto the bed, letting time do its work.

....

As the heavy night approached after a somewhat gloomy dinner, the wooden floor creaked slightly. Lucien, turning toward the door, could see Aleena standing there, her gloomy eyes from earlier now filled with something intense.

She was wearing a simple nightgown that clung to her curves, leaving little to the imagination. She bit her lower lip as she watched Lucien, her eyes seemingly trying to devour what was in front of her.

"Are you alright, Aleena?" Lucien asked, getting up from the bed and making his way toward her, his shaft twitching with anticipation.

Aleena stepped into the room, her eyes lingering on Lucien's shaft. She nodded, her cheeks flushing a deeper shade of red. "Yes, I'm fine now," she whispered, her voice like a melody reaching Lucien's ears. "What about you? You looked downcast earlier."

"I'm fine too now. I was just thinking about you and your lips," Lucien said, his eyes lingering on Aleena's lips. Then, recalling what Gilbert had said, he slowly leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers, but Aleena pulled herself back and said, "We should close the door first."
