Hearing Melody mention Vienna, I couldn't hold back anymore and violently yanked my hand away from hers.
Melody was clearly startled by my action.
She stood there, stunned, taking a good while to come back to her senses.
"Mom, what are you doing?"
Her voice carried a hint of anger, but her eyes showed more confusion.
"My hand just cramped up a bit, Melody. Why don't you walk ahead?"
Melody pouted and quickly strode forward.
As soon as the door opened, Damien instinctively jumped back two steps.
He nearly knocked over a chair. Vienna stepped forward, took Melody's hand, and started talking to her.
It was as if what I had just witnessed was merely a figment of my imagination.
"Damien, there are some matters to attend to at the family estate. I'll head back tonight."
"I just noticed Genevieve seemed unwell. Keep an eye on her."
Upon hearing that I wasn't feeling well, Vienna immediately showed concern for me.
"Genevieve, what's wrong? Are you not feeling well?"
"Should Damien and I take you to the hospital to get checked out?"
Damien's face was serious as he looked at me, his eyes devoid of any genuine concern.
"It's nothing, just a bit tired. I'll be fine after some rest." Vienna walked towards me, about to take my arm, but I dodged her.
Her hand hung suspended in the air, and time seemed to freeze.
The room suddenly fell silent.
It was Damien who finally broke the awkward silence, "Genevieve, are you really alright?"
Watching their feigned concern, another wave of nausea surged in my throat.
Damien's already serious expression instantly turned ice-cold.
"Dad, what's this?"
Melody's hands trembled as she held up the hospital discharge papers that had fallen from my bag, questioning him.
He snatched them away, and as his eyes scanned down the page, his face grew increasingly grim.
Vienna, noticing his unusual expression, leaned in to take a closer look.
But she was startled by Damien's furious roar.
"Genevieve! How could you not tell me immediately about something this serious!"
I closed my eyes briefly, a bitter smile tugging at the corners of my mouth.
The next moment, as if I had made an enormous decision, I stared fiercely into his eyes.
"Damien, where were you when I was in the hospital?"
"Yeah, thanks to you all, I can never get pregnant again!"
"A son?! Don't delude yourself, you'll never have one in this lifetime!" I screamed at him, my voice nearly hoarse with emotion.
For a moment, everyone stood frozen in shock.
"What?! Genevieve can't get pregnant anymore?!"
"How is that possible? Didn't she want to have a son and bring Melody back to the country?"
Hearing Vienna's words, I burst into laughter.
"Yeah, sorry to disappoint you all."
"I can never have children again!"
"Damien, this is all thanks to you!"
I pulled out the divorce papers I had prepared earlier from my bag and hurled them at him with force.
He reacted quickly, catching the divorce contract I had thrown.
When he saw the words "Divorce Agreement," his face darkened terribly.
With bloodshot eyes, he questioned me through gritted teeth, "You... want to divorce me?!"
"Yes, Damien Stone, I want a divorce!"
With that, I turned and walked towards the door.
Behind me, I heard Damien's disbelieving voice, mixed with the sound of shattering glass.
Everything seemed to descend into chaos and spiral out of control.
His fury was so intense that even Vienna, standing nearby, didn't dare approach him.
"She actually asked me for a divorce?"
Melody's cries were heart-wrenching as she sobbed.
"Dad, Mom's leaving! Go stop her, quick!"
