Rocks was furious. The only thing on his mind now was that Roger—another pirate—had actually chosen to side with the World Government against him!
Newgate, wielding his Tremor-Tremor Fruit's power, unleashed a powerful air shock, forcing Garling back. The prolonged battle had left its mark on both warriors. Newgate's broad chest bore several deep slash wounds, blood seeping from them, while Garling's golden armor—symbolizing the Knights of God—was cracked and dented. A trickle of blood ran from the corner of his mouth. Despite his formidable skills, dealing with Newgate at his peak was no easy feat.
If Roger hadn't arrived, one of them would have surely died today.
Newgate squinted at Roger, his eyes flickering with unreadable thoughts.
Roger hadn't come alone. Moments later, his first mate, Silvers Rayleigh, arrived with the rest of the crew, positioning themselves behind their captain as they faced the Rocks Pirates.
The tide of the battle had turned. Rocks' expression darkened, his hatred for Roger burning fiercely. The Rocks Pirates' members reacted in different ways—some looking uncertain, others casting glances around as if considering an escape.
Rocks could see the shift in morale. He clenched his fists, his Conqueror's Haki crackling ominously. His body tensed before he shot forward like lightning, his overwhelming aura locking onto Roger.
Even Roger, usually brimming with confidence, looked grave. He reinforced his supreme-grade sword, Ace, with Conqueror's Haki and met Rocks' charge head-on.
The instant their weapons clashed, Roger felt his arm go numb. Rocks' strength was far greater than he had anticipated.
Seeing Roger struggle, Rayleigh moved to assist, but before he could act, Garp made his move.
A blackened iron fist fell from above. Rocks, too focused on Roger, failed to react in time. Garp's devastating punch struck him squarely, sending him hurtling backward.
Roger and Garp stood side by side, facing Rocks, who was so enraged that he was momentarily speechless. His lips trembled before he finally bellowed:
"Absolutely disgusting!"
He had hoped to take the initiative and rally his crew, but instead, he had been pushed further into a corner.
Then, unexpectedly, Linlin reappeared. She held a glowing Azure Dragon Fruit in her hand, a triumphant grin spreading across her face.
While the battle raged, she had used her Soul-Soul Fruit's abilities to animate the land and retrieve the treasure she had been after all along.
Rocks felt a glimmer of hope—until Linlin spoke.
"Kaido, you idiot! Why are you still fighting? Look what I found! Come with me!"
Kaido's eyes widened at the sight of the fruit, and without hesitation, he abandoned the battle and rushed to Linlin's side. The two turned and vanished within moments.
"..."
A heavy silence fell over the battlefield.
Newgate exhaled slowly, disappointment clouding his face. Without a word, he rested Murakumogiri on his shoulder and turned away, leaving the battlefield. His departure was deliberate, his pace unhurried, yet no one stopped him.
Shiki took a drag from his cigar, watching everything unfold with cool detachment. As a Float-Float Fruit user, escape was always an option for him. Unlike Rocks, he had no delusions about loyalty.
Rocks stood still, saying nothing, his back rigid. Yet, Roger and Garp, still watching him, could feel the sheer malice radiating from his body.
Saturn smirked, sensing the inevitable victory. But his body remained tense. He knew Rocks was most dangerous when cornered.
Slowly, Rocks lifted his head. His voice was a whisper at first, but it carried an undeniable menace:
"Roger… Celestial Dragons… Marines… You all deserve to die!!!"
Boom!
The ground beneath them shattered. Rocks and his remaining loyal followers surged into the enemy ranks, unleashing a merciless onslaught. Limbs flew. Blood mist filled the air. Screams of agony echoed across the battlefield.
The World Government, the Marines, and Roger's crew all responded in kind, throwing everything they had into subduing Rocks.
Despite being overwhelmed, Rocks showed no fear. He threw off his bloodstained cloak and let out a maniacal laugh.
"Come at me! I am ROCKS!!!"
...
No one knew how long the battle raged, but eventually, the once-deafening roars of combat faded.
At the edge of the Valley of Gods, Newgate pushed a small wooden boat into the sea and climbed aboard.
The Rocks Pirates' ship had long been destroyed by the Marines. Left with no other option, Newgate had crafted this makeshift vessel himself.
He glanced back at the battlefield one last time and murmured,
"Goodbye, Captain Rocks."
From his coat, he pulled out a Sky-blue Devil Fruit. Smirking, he mused to himself,
"I picked this up on my way out. Must've been one of the Celestial Dragons' treasures. Looks like I got lucky."
...
On a Marine warship, Sengoku sat on a bench, wiping the blood from his body. There were too many wounded Marines, and the medical teams were already overwhelmed.
Despite his own injuries, he refused treatment, opting instead to let the medics focus on the other soldiers.
Just as he pressed a cotton swab to a wound, the door burst open with a loud bang.
"Hey! Sengoku, you okay?!"
Sengoku flinched, the tweezers in his hand stabbing directly into his wound. He turned, ready to scold Garp, but before he could, Garp tossed a wooden box onto the table with a grin.
"Check this out."
The box was adorned with gold leaf, indicating its high value. Raising an eyebrow, Sengoku slowly opened it—inside lay a golden Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit.
His eyes widened. Looking up at Garp in disbelief, he asked, "Where the hell did you find this?!"
Garp chuckled. "Must've belonged to the Celestial Dragons. Found it lying around. You know how I feel about those guys, so I ain't handing it over. But I don't plan on eating it either. If you want it, it's yours."
...
Meanwhile, aboard the Roger Pirates' ship,
Roger and his crew gathered around a wooden box. Inside, a red-haired baby lay quietly, his tiny hands waving in the air.
Instead of crying, the baby giggled.
