Chapter 10: The Miracles That Men Seek

"Ahn~ Umn~ Oh~" the girl moaned as her hands and mouth worked tirelessly in worship of her idol. She gazed up at the man and saw him listless and aloof, his eyes closed as if in meditation. The wet red lock of hair sticking to his white porcelain face, his toned body, much unlike most rich men she had seen, made her dreams an endless river.

Just being able to see him so close was enough to send a shiver through her as she redoubled her efforts to please the god of her nights.

Jafaar on the other hand, was busy with something far more important at the moment. He finally had enough points to buy out the entire shop and that was precisely what he did.

After he had purchased every spell at Apprentice level which had changed his Level to 'Master Apprentice' and he had been able to unlock the next level. At the Magus Level, he had made the following purchase:

[You have Purchased:

2. MP Regen(x10) x2

3. Fly

4. Ritual Cast

5. Over Cast

6. Dispel

TOTAL= 2700 Influence Points

Remaining Influence Points= 772]

'So cluttered…' he commented as he dismissed it with a thought. Every purchase had cost 300 points and there were many new spells and categories that weren't in the Apprentice Level.

'300. That is far too much. I would need tens of thousands of points to reach the next level!' a frown graced his face as he opened his eyes. He glanced at the girl beneath him, her brown head bobbing up and down as she looked up at him with fervor.

Jafaar extended his right hand in front of him and a flame burst forth, but unlike a normal flame, this one was in the shape of a perfect round ball. It floated gently above his palm as Jafaar smiled, 'Yes, it's fine. I can afford the wait now. I already have more power than most, enough that men would kneel and worship me.'

He clenched the flame into his fist and the flame vanished into a puff of smoke. He glanced at the girl that had stopped her work and was gazing at him with a twinkle in her eyes, "You can weld fire my lord?"

"Among other things." he smiled at her. "Why? Do you want me to show you some magic?" he offered the girl, rather, the woman.

"Truely!?" her face bloomed at the thought of witnessing marvels of magic. She had always been interested in the strange tales of dragons and magics.

He smiled and laid down onto the feathered bed, Doreah crawled up and nestled at his side, "You said that you are kin of dragons, can you breathe fire too my lord?" her hands traced every muscle of his chest, her eyes locked-on to his profile .

"We are kin, in a sense. But I can not breathe fire and I have no wings." he dashed her hopes but chuckled as she pouted, "But I can walk as freely on air as freely as you on earth. I can strike a man 10 paces away without a bow, I can wield lighting and fire as men wield swords and spears." his raised his left hand and lightning danced around it for a second before disappearing, leaving the girl awestruck.

Jafaar could see the wild desire in her eyes, it was one of three types of gazes that he was subjected to, the other two being fear and awe.

"They say you can ensnare the thoughts of others." her hand travelled downwards and her breath quickened, "...bewitch the mind… and that you enslave the souls of women." her lips tracing the jugular of his neck.

*shuffle*

Jafaar pinned her on the soft silk bed, "Perhaps I should give the stories some merit, should I enslave you as you desire?" her body pressed beneath him as her breath quickened, "Yes my lord!" she moaned at his touch.

Time passed and Jafaar exited his ornate red tent and the view opened to what seemed like an endless sea of small camps. He walked through the dirt and earth, cutting a path through the 'freemen' that stopped and bowed as he passed, uninterrupted towards the other side of the camp. There, a sea of men, women and children slept amongst goats, cows and dogs, clutching their belongings in fear of theft.

As soon as he was within sight of these starving homeless fools, a clamor rose among the tens of thousands of 'freemen' that had followed their savior on her journey with not as much as a single forethought.

The journey was hard and they were ill-provisioned, lacking medicine and food. Food was mostly rationed but the medicine had run out and what little people had, they refused to share.

All this had made Jafaar very popular, the 'freemen' carried their sick and injured to him, seeking his miracles and he performed them with a smile on his face. A brilliant beacon of hope in their grim circumstances. As a result, he had gained hundreds in influence points.

Jafaar walked past the big golden tent and walked through the sea of homeless people. As he walked a crowd gathered behind him, eager to witness the miracle with their own eyes.

"Lord Magus!" a woman called, carrying a young girl in her arms, she ran to him and knelt before him, pleading, "Lord Magus! My daughter has fallen ill, her body burns hot as coal! Bless her lord! Bless her!" She laid the girl at his feet and begged. The girl was dressed in a simple white cotton tunic, her face pale and sweaty. The girl heaved deep breaths, Jafaar could see her ribs through the dress, 'She must be starving, poor thing.'

Jafaar knelt in the mud, staining his green robes brown as he took her pulse. It was a simple fever, only fatal if the patient is left neglected. The girl would have recovered by herself in a few days but the mother had brought her to him nonetheless. When prayers are answered, men cease to think. It was just as well for Jafaar, as long as he got the influence he wanted, he cared little for much else.

He put his hand on the girl's chest and green light flowed into her. The girl quickly opened her eyes under the awed sights and praises of the countless people around them. "Thank you lord Magus! Thank you!" the mother wept and the rest joined her. The woman threw herself at his feet as if had not just healed a minor cold but cheated death instead.

"The girl is weak, feed her some soft food." Jafaar smiled before rising and declaring, "Food is rationed at the camp. Please do not hesitate." he offered as if it was his own food and not Dany's.

After a short round, healing a few sick and playing a game of football (that he introduced) with the children, he returned to his tent. He had gained 40 more points in just a few hours.

Doreah was not present as he told the Unsullied posted outside his tent to not let anyone inside and started to work.

He took off his left emerald bracelet and took a deep breath and used Ritual Magic and Over Cast to Enchant it with the Magic Bullet spell. Slowly green runes started to appear around the bracelet, mysterious and powerful.

After 10 minutes, the runes completed a circle around the bracelet and sank into it.

[MP: 51>11]

It had cost him 40 MP but it was worth it in his opinion. He wore the bracelet back on his left wrist and 20 bright green crystals materialised around it. They were the same size as an adult thumb and in sets of 5, 10 and 5. The 5s orbited clockwise while the 10 orbited counter-clockwise.

He smiled as he saw it. He raised his hand and the first set of 5 shot out indifferent directions, hitting five different things. The bracelet had 100 Bullets in total, due to multiple Enchantments, but they had auto-aim now. Jafaar simply had to mentally mark his targets and the magic did the rest. This was a sure hit attack unless the person blocked it close to their body.

He had bought the overcast spell so he could use the lower rank spells like Magic Bullet as higher rank spells. Magic Bullet was ideal for dealing with enemies at a distance and Ritual Cast because he could use it in conjunction with Over Cast and make even stronger magic items for use. The end result of this was powerful and well worth the effort.

He had spent the last 2 weeks repeating the same process with a silver sapphire bracelet on his right wrist but casted the Magic Shield Spell. Due to the Ritual Cast and Over Cast, it now lasted a total of 2 hours a day and covered his entire body. Unlike with simple Enchant, that simply released the stored spell, with ritual cast he could combine multiple enchantments together into one. So now he could use it for a few seconds, minutes or even an hour without any issues.

He had also Enchanted many other trinkets, like using the Magic Defence spell on a sapphire ring, which now protected him from 20 hidden attacks for a whole day. Since the magic was auto regenerated, it meant that he won't have to worry about getting ambushed before he could react.

Another ring was enchanted with the Shockwave spell and another set of rings with each of the Elemental Shot spells, each of which could cast powerful Magus Level spells twice a day. For the last two fingers, he had enchanted them with Fly magic and Mend Wounds once each. Fly was the only real Magus Level spell he had purchased and he was waiting for the perfect opportunity to show it off.

He exited the tent, the light was dying and night would soon be upon them. He could sense the tension in the camp, as if a deadly beast was waking from its slumber. His intuition proved true when an Unsullied came to give him a message, "The attack on Yunkai begins after midnight."

He smiled, it was finally time for him to let loose… to showcase his powers to the world and turn the rumours of his dreadful magic some truth.
