CHAPTER FOUR:THE STRANGER

Chapter 4: The Stranger

Jake walked along the riverbank, his eyes scanning the water for any sign of life. The sun was high overhead, casting a warm glow over the scene. As he walked, Jake noticed a figure standing on the opposite bank, watching him.

The figure was a woman, tall and slender, with long, dark hair that cascaded down her back. Jake couldn't make out her features clearly, but there was something about her that seemed familiar.

As Jake approached the water's edge, the woman didn't move. She just kept watching him, her eyes fixed intently on his face. Jake felt a shiver run down his spine as he met her gaze.

"Who are you?" Jake called out, his voice carrying across the water.

The woman didn't respond. She just kept watching him, her eyes never leaving his face. Jake felt a sense of unease growing inside him, and he took a step back, his eyes never leaving the woman.

Suddenly, the woman turned and disappeared into the trees. Jake was left standing alone on the riverbank, wondering what had just happened.

As he turned to walk away, Jake noticed something on the ground. It was a piece of paper, folded into a neat square. Jake picked it up, unfolding it to reveal a message scrawled in hasty handwriting:

"Meet me at the old oak tree at midnight. Come alone."

Jake's heart was racing as he read the message. Who was this mysterious woman, and what did she want with him?

As he stood there, trying to make sense of the message, Jake felt a sense of curiosity wash over him. Who was this woman, and what secrets was she hiding?

Jake looked around, trying to see if anyone was watching him. But the riverbank was deserted, and the only sound was the gentle lapping of the water against the shore.

As he stood there, Jake felt a sense of unease growing inside him. What was he getting himself into? And who was this mysterious woman, really?

Despite his reservations, Jake knew that he had to go to the meeting. He had to know what this woman wanted, and why she was being so secretive.

As he walked back to his cabin, Jake felt a sense of anticipation building inside him. What would happen at the meeting? And who was this mysterious woman, really?

The questions swirled in Jake's mind as he walked, and he couldn't shake the feeling that his life was about to change forever.

As he approached his cabin, Jake noticed something strange. The door was open, just a crack. Jake was sure that he had closed it before he left.

He pushed the door open slowly, his heart racing with anticipation. But as he stepped inside, he saw that everything was just as he had left it.

Or was it?

Jake's eyes scanned the room, searching for any sign of disturbance. And then, he saw it. A small piece of paper on the kitchen table, with a message scrawled in the same handwriting as before:

"I'll be watching you."

Jake's heart was racing as he read the message. Who was this woman, and what did she want with him?

As he stood there, trying to make sense of the message, Jake felt a sense of fear wash over him. He was being watched, and he didn't know why.

The questions swirled in Jake's mind as he stood there, frozen with fear. What was happening? And who was this mysterious woman, really?
