Chapter 10: The Ancient Ones
As Maya stood in the pool, surrounded by the glowing symbols, she felt a sense of energy building inside her. The mysterious woman nodded, as if she had expected this to happen.
"The ancient ones are stirring," she said. "They have been awakened by your presence."
Maya felt a surge of curiosity, and she looked around the pool, trying to see what the woman meant. And then, she saw them.
The ancient ones were tall, statuesque figures that seemed to be made of the same rock as the surrounding cliffs. They were covered in intricate carvings and symbols, and they seemed to be emitting a powerful, pulsating energy.
Maya felt a sense of awe wash over her as she looked at the ancient ones. She had never seen anything like them before.
"What are they?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"They are the guardians of the river," the woman replied. "They have been here for thousands of years, watching over the river and keeping its secrets."
Maya felt a sense of wonder and excitement as she looked at the ancient ones. She knew that she was on the verge of a great discovery, one that would change her life forever.
As she stood there, the ancient ones began to move, their stone bodies slowly coming to life. Maya felt a sense of trepidation, but the mysterious woman nodded reassuringly.
"Do not be afraid," she said. "The ancient ones mean you no harm. They are here to teach you, to share their wisdom and knowledge with you."
Maya felt a sense of curiosity, and she watched as the ancient ones began to arrange themselves in a circle around her. The mysterious woman nodded, as if she had expected this to happen.
"The ancient ones are going to teach you the secrets of the river," she said. "Are you ready to learn?"

The mysterious woman nodded, as if she had expected this to happen. "Then let us begin," she said.
And with that, the ancient ones began to speak, their voices echoing in Maya's mind. They shared their wisdom and knowledge with her, teaching her the secrets of the river and the mysteries of the universe.
Maya felt a sense of wonder and awe as she listened to the ancient ones. She knew that she was receiving a great gift, one that would change her life forever.
As the ancient ones finished speaking, Maya felt a sense of peace and clarity wash over her. She knew that she had been given a great responsibility, one that she was determined to fulfill.

"They will always be with you," she said. "Their wisdom and knowledge will guide you on your journey, and their power will help you to overcome any obstacles that you may face."
