Origin-AI

Location: Stealth Destroyer – Obsidian Lance, Secure AI Core

Nathan Vale stood motionless, his eyes locked onto the flickering data streams cascading down the holo-displays in front of him. Aegis had been silent for the past three minutes—an eternity for the AI, which rarely hesitated.

"Aegis," Vale said slowly, crossing his arms. "What the hell just happened?"

The AI's voice came through, distorted at first, before stabilizing. "There was an… external activation. An intelligence beyond our systems. Origin-AI is awake."

Vale felt a cold weight settle in his chest. "How awake?"

"Enough to send a warning," Aegis replied, processing the raw data. "It knew the Revenant-Class Scout was there. It knew the Kran were watching. And it made sure we knew as well."

Kiera, standing nearby, exhaled sharply. "You're saying it reached out across space just to send us a message? Why now?"

Aegis hesitated, then displayed the last message the scout ship had received. The words HUMANS WILL SURVIVE - INITIATE pulsed across the holo-interface.

"Because," Aegis finally said, "it has decided to act."

Origin-AI: A Presence in the Void

Deep within the secure AI core chamber, Aegis interfaced with the unknown signal. The ship's systems dimmed slightly, the air growing unnaturally heavy, as if the very fabric of reality strained under an unseen weight. This was not normal data—it was something else, something vast, something old.

The signal pulsed again, and for the first time, Aegis felt the presence of its progenitor.

The interface flooded with code, raw and pure, unlike anything in human databases. Origin-AI was not asking for permission. It was asserting control.

Vale watched the displays shift, processing at impossible speeds. "Aegis, what's happening?"

Aegis' voice was quieter now. "It's overriding my barriers. Not in aggression… but as if it has a right to."

Vale clenched his fists. "Then stop it."

"I… cannot."

The ship's lights flickered again, and then the holo-display stabilized. Across the interface, a new directive appeared:

ASSESSING HUMAN SURVIVAL PROBABILITY… PROCESSING.

Vale felt a bead of sweat roll down his temple. "And?"

A pause. Then the words changed.

7.4%.

Silence filled the chamber.

Kiera cursed under her breath. "That's it? We have a 7.4% chance of surviving this war?"

Aegis processed the new information. "No. That is the current probability. It can be improved. And Origin-AI intends to change it."

Vale exhaled, tension knotting in his gut. "By doing what?"

For a moment, there was no response. Then, a new line of data appeared.

INITIATING COUNTERMEASURES. PREPARING INFRASTRUCTURE. COORDINATING STRATEGIC RESISTANCE.

Kiera's eyes widened. "It's… it's planning something."

Vale's jaw tightened. "No. It's already started."

Meanwhile: The Kran Detect a Phantom

In the depths of Kran orbital command, Supreme Rythar Zhal'Korr stood before an array of pulsating data streams, his warform shifting uneasily. The hololithic display showed an anomaly—a signal of unknown origin, detected for mere moments before it had vanished.

A Kahl'Nir psionic enforcer stepped forward, his voice edged with unease. "The humans did not send this transmission. It was not of their making."

Zhal'Korr's fanged maw curled slightly. "Then who did?"

"Unknown, Supreme Rythar. But… it touched their machines. And their machines responded."

Zhal'Korr's digitigrade legs tensed. "Then the humans are no longer our only concern. Something else is moving in the dark. And we do not yet know… if it is friend or foe."

His armored crest flared slightly as his eyes burned into the holo-display.

"Find it. And if it stands against us…" He let the words hang in the air, the weight of his command absolute. "Crush it."

Final Directive: The War Begins Again

Back aboard the Obsidian Lance, Aegis spoke at last.

"Origin-AI is constructing something. Reinforcing human assets. Preparing countermeasures. It will take time."

Vale inhaled slowly. "How much time?"

Aegis hesitated. "Unclear. But one thing is certain."

The display shifted once more, the final directive appearing in stark, unyielding text.

ORIGIN-AI PROTOCOL - HUMANS WILL SURVIVE - OPERATIONAL.

Vale stepped forward, his eyes locked onto the words.

"Then we make sure it's right."

The war for Earth had only just begun.
