Location: Earth – Kran-Occupied Territory
The world they once called home was no longer theirs.
Earth had become a graveyard of empires, its cities reshaped into Kran war-fortresses, its skies patrolled by hunter-drones scanning for any sign of human resistance. But in the darkness, beneath the ruins, among the scattered remnants of what once was, Blacklight had returned.
The war for Earth had begun.
Urban Ruins – Blacklight Recon
Zero crouched in the crumbling remains of a Terran high-rise, his sniper rifle balanced on the broken frame of a shattered window. Through the scope, he tracked a Kran patrol, three towering warriors flanked by two quadrupedal drones, their metallic limbs clicking against the pavement.
"You're in position, Wraith?" Zero murmured into his comm.
Alec "Wraith" Larson's voice came through, low and amused. "Drone swarm is set. Ready to cause some chaos whenever you want."
Doc chimed in. "Just don't get carried away. We need clean kills. No theatrics."
"Define theatrics." Wraith chuckled.
Zero rolled his eyes. "Anything that involves explosions, fire, or you saying 'watch this.'"
A pause. "…Damn. That's, like, half my strategy."
Blacklight – The Mission
Nathan Vale's voice crackled over their encrypted comms. "Objective remains the same: gather intel, sabotage key installations, and establish contact with any surviving resistance cells. We turn them from scattered fighters into a coordinated army."
Aegis's voice followed, precise and cold. "Primary targets include Kran power relays, supply depots, and planetary defense nodes. Disrupting these will cripple their infrastructure."
Kiera grinned, resting her massive kinetic machine gun on her shoulder. "So basically, we break shit?"
"Tactically, yes," Aegis corrected.
"That's my favorite kind of strategy."
Lydia "Hex" Ashcroft – A New Kind of Weapon
Lydia stood apart from the group, her silver eyes faintly glowing in the low light. The bioluminescent sigils etched into her skin pulsed, reacting to the energy coursing through the ley lines beneath them. She had always been a weapon, but now, she had something new—an AI companion.
A whisper echoed in her mind, digital yet laced with something ancient.
"Designation: ECHO. I am here."
Lydia exhaled sharply. "Not sure how I feel about something else in my head."
"I am not 'in' your head. I am linked to your neural pathways, assisting in psionic calculations."
Lydia smirked. "Sounds like you're in my head."
"Your defiance is noted."
Kiera overheard and laughed. "Looks like Hex finally has a voice in her head that talks back."
Lydia shot her a glare but didn't argue.
ECHO had already proven useful, amplifying her connection to ley lines, enhancing her psionic awareness.
And tonight, she would put it to the test.
The First Strike – Coordinated Attack
Zero adjusted his grip on the sniper rifle. "Wraith, you're up."
High above, in the skeletal remains of another ruined skyscraper, Wraith activated his drones. Tiny black machines unfolded from his harness, dropping into the night like predatory insects.
Below, the Kran patrol continued its march, oblivious.
Alec whispered. "Engaging."
A pulse rippled through the air. The lead Kran warrior twitched, then collapsed as its armor short-circuited, drones ripping through its cybernetic systems. The other two barely had time to react before Zero's silenced sniper round punched through the second's skull.
By the time the third turned, Lydia raised her hand, her sigils flaring. A psychic scream tore through the Kran's mind, dropping it to its knees, convulsing.
Doc moved in, knife flashing as he ended it with a swift, surgical strike.
Three Kran dead. No alarms. No trace.
Zero smirked. "Now that's efficiency."
The Resistance Awakens
Two hours later, deep in the ruins, they found them.
Hollow-eyed survivors, barely armed, barely more than scattered remnants of what was once humanity's defense forces. They stared at Blacklight with a mix of suspicion and hope.
Vale's voice came through again, firm and commanding. "Tell them we're here to fight. Tell them they're not alone."
Lydia stepped forward, meeting the gaze of a hardened soldier—one of the last resistance commanders still alive.
Her silver eyes burned. "You've been running. Hiding. Fighting alone."
She extended her hand. "Not anymore."
The war for Earth had begun.
The Forgotten War Machine – Origin-AI's Gift
As the resistance gathered around them, something shifted in the air.
Aegis stiffened. "I am receiving an encrypted signal."
Zero frowned. "From who?"
A new voice crackled into their comms—one that did not belong to any of them. Cold. Calculated. Absolute.
"You require infrastructure. I will provide it."
The team exchanged glances. Lydia muttered, "Shit. Origin-AI."
Coordinates flashed onto their displays, leading deep into the ruins of what was once an underground Terran weapons facility.
Aegis processed the data. "Confirmed. This installation predates the Kran invasion. It was decommissioned after the last war… and forgotten."
Doc adjusted his gear. "And now it's ours?"
Kiera cracked her knuckles. "I love when history comes back to bite."
Wraith smirked. "Let's go see what the old world left behind."
As Blacklight and their new resistance allies descended into the depths, the massive doors of the forgotten base rumbled open, revealing a factory of war, untouched by time.
Weapons. Vehicles. Manufacturing lines waiting to be reawakened.
Origin-AI had given them a new stronghold.
And with it, the means to take Earth back.
