Chapter 9: Covering an Era
Huang Hui didn't care about the cigar that fell to the ground. He grabbed the patrol officer's collar and growled, "You little b*d, are you joking with me?"
"Boss, Principal Zhou is here. How dare I make something like this up?"
The patrol officer quickly picked up the evidence bag in his hand and held it up. "Look, this is the proof."
Huang Hui let go of him, frowning as he took the evidence bag. Inside was a bloodstained school uniform.
Embroidered on the uniform was the school emblem of Yue City No. 14 Middle School.
At that moment, a questioning voice sounded from the side.
"A school uniform doesn't prove anything. Maybe he was just a victim. Do you have any solid evidence?"
The patrol officer turned toward the speaker.
The man wore a white long robe and had a silver beard, neatly groomed in a stylish manner.
His silver-white hair flowed softly past his shoulders, simply tied with a black silk ribbon adorned with golden patterns.
Recognizing the man, the patrol officer immediately stood up straight, his nervous expression replaced by respect.
This was the former legendary Martial Emperor and current president of Hongwu University in Xingcheng—
Zhou Shang.
---
"Principal Zhou, please take a look. This is the cellphone of Feng Xingyu, the leader of the Starry Sky Gate in Yue City."
"When we unlocked it, this is what we found in the memo."
The patrol officer held up the phone.
Zhou Shang and Huang Hui leaned in to read the screen.
---
> "Hello, patrol officers. I am the one who reported the case. Please open the photo album."
---
The patrol officer switched the screen, opened the photo album, and clicked on the latest video.
As the recording began, a young face filled the screen.
---
> "Hello, my name is Jiang Tian, a student at No. 14 Middle School, and I am the person who reported the case."
"I love cooking and want to be a chef, so I signed up for what I thought was a training school."
"Unfortunately, by the time I realized the situation had changed, everyone had already been killed."
"Since my life was in danger, I had no choice but to kill the Starry Sky Gate members causing trouble."
"Using the leader's cellphone, I recovered my defrauded tuition, mental damage compensation, property damage compensation, etc., totaling 793,145.86 yuan."
"My phone number is 186¥%...¥. If you need to contact me, you can call or message me. My bank card number is 671%¥...&. Please deposit the bounty for eliminating the Starry Sky Gate members here."
"Thanks for your hard work!"
---
The video ended.
For a moment, none of them spoke.
Zhou Shang covered his mouth, his usually steady hands trembling slightly.
Even for someone of his level, who had seen countless battles and horrors, this moment was unbelievable.
---
"Has anyone else seen this video?" Zhou Shang's gaze was sharp.
"No, Principal Zhou!" the patrol officer quickly answered. "I found it suspicious and reported it immediately. No one else has seen it."
"Good."
The ring on Zhou Shang's hand flashed, and in an instant, the bloodstained clothes and the cellphone disappeared.
---
Huang Hui reached for another cigar, but his hands were shaking too much to light it.
After struggling for a while, he finally managed to take a deep puff.
---
"Xiao Jia, you know the rules. Sign a confidentiality agreement and a blood contract. From now on, you won't leave my side."
"Understood," the patrol officer named Xiao Jia nodded.
"I'll inform your father that your training mission is over. You're getting full marks."
---
Zhou Shang took a deep breath.
"Let's go inside and take a look."
---
Originally, Zhou Shang and Huang Hui hadn't intended to examine the scene in detail.
For people at their level, a battle like this didn't require personal inspection.
They had come only out of respect for the dead.
---
But now?
The culprit was a high school student?
And not even an awakened one yet?
How was this possible?
---
Before stepping inside, Zhou Shang noticed footprints near the abandoned factory.
Following them, he analyzed the events leading up to the battle.
Walking in and seeing the traces of blood and combat, the entire battle replayed in his mind.
---
"This little monster has incredible combat skills."
Huang Hui looked around, observing the corpses of Starry Sky Gate disciples, which were still being documented.
"He's ruthless."
---
After scanning the scene, Zhou Shang walked over to Feng Xingyu's body.
The dead man's eyes were still open, frozen in an expression of rage and disbelief.
Die with eyes open.
---
"He was injured… but why did he act like nothing was wrong in the video?"
Zhou Shang squinted.
His eyes landed on a patrol guard collecting evidence nearby.
In the officer's evidence bag was a severed arm, stripped of flesh—
With visible bite marks on the bone.
---
Zhou Shang's eyes narrowed.
"The Red Pig's arm… Feng Xingyu's ritual must have summoned it."
"But not only was the transplanted arm ripped off… it was eaten."
---
Zhou Shang took the evidence bag and placed it into his space ring.
The patrol officer looked confused but didn't dare ask.
Huang Hui simply shook his head, and the officer remained silent.
---
"Transfer the money." Zhou Shang's voice was calm but firm.
---
Huang Hui blinked.
"What?"
---
"This case requires special handling.
You will personally transfer the bounty for eliminating the Starry Sky Gate members to the account he provided."
"Do it privately. Use your personal funds."
---
Huang Hui sighed. "Alright, I'll take care of it."
For someone like him, this wasn't much money.
After all, on the battlefield, spoils from defeated aliens were worth far more than this.
---
"Also, find out where this Jiang Tian kid lives. Do it carefully. Don't alert him."
Zhou Shang's warning was clear.
---
Huang Hui nodded, then paused.
A thought crossed his mind, and he suddenly made a phone call.
---
"Nephew! Didn't you call me this morning about helping your good friend transfer to the elite class?"
"Yeah, yeah. What's his name again?"
"Jiang Tian?"
"No problem. It's a small matter. How could your uncle not help you?"
"By the way, where does your friend live?"
"Silly boy, of course, I won't put it through the system. This must be handled quietly."
---
After hanging up, Huang Hui turned to Zhou Shang.
"Got his address."
---
Zhou Shang smirked slightly.
"Such a coincidence, huh?"
---
Huang Hui shrugged. "I thought the name sounded familiar. Turns out he's my nephew's good friend. Small world, huh?"
---
"No time to waste. I need to find this child immediately."
Zhou Shang's figure vanished into the shadows.
---
Huang Hui exhaled a deep breath, watching his teacher disappear.
For some reason, his heart pounded in anticipation.
---
"Damn… this Jiang Tian kid is terrifying."
This morning, his nephew bragged that Jiang Tian was a monster who could kill a blood cow with one punch.
He thought it was an exaggeration.
---
Now?
It wasn't exaggeration at all.
---
"Poor kids… trying to be geniuses in the same generation as this monster."
Huang Hui took a long drag of his cigar.
He could already foresee it.
---
Jiang Tian would loom over his entire generation.
A shadow no one could escape.
