Chapter 76: This Human Race Is Too Terrible
The boiling mineral water gurgled, and on the large stove, hot oil sizzled in a black pan.
Frog meat fried inside, the golden-brown surface crisping under the heat. The aroma alone made Jiang Tian's eyes gleam with satisfaction.
Facing the so-called alien encirclement, he remained unfazed. Instead, he used a large colander to drain the oil from the freshly fried frog meat.
He plucked a piece, tossed it into his mouth, and chewed slowly, savoring the taste while gauging if the seasoning was just right.
Moving to the chopping board, he took a half-processed fire frog and began slicing it into pieces.
Each thud of his Black Dragon Kitchen Knife echoed in the silence, sending shivers down the spines of the Fire Frog Tribe warriors.
Jiang Tian hummed as he worked, marinating the meat in a thick sauce before tossing another batch into the frying oil. The sizzling sound filled the air, and several Fire Frogs instinctively took two steps back.
What was happening?
Fire Frogs were low-ranked creatures among the alien races, but they weren't fools.
Before setting out, the Sanwanchi elders had explained the situation.
Some young human elites had come to the Huotang Small World for training. They were powerful and exceptionally talented.
But if the Fire Frog and Fire Fish Tribes worked together and successfully killed one, they would receive great rewards from their superior race, the Fire Feather Clan.
With those rewards, they could move from the outskirts to the core territory.
So, they gathered their strongest warriors and tracked Jiang Tian and Xue Ruyan down.
But what did they find?
A slaughterhouse.
Their fellow Fire Frogs, skinned and placed on a table like livestock, chopped into pieces by this human.
And worst of all—this human male was eating them.
Oh, merciful Fire Feather gods...
This human was cooking Fire Frogs.
And enjoying it.
Xue Ruyan turned to Jiang Tian, her voice calm. "Student Jiang?"
They had an agreement.
Jiang Tian was helping her hone her combat skills. But in battle, he would decide whether she should fight or hold back.
If he didn't give the signal, she wasn't to interfere.
Jiang Tian glanced at her, then returned his attention to the Fire Fish warriors who had appeared on the hillside. His eyes lit up with excitement.
"New ingredients came with the old ones? How could I refuse?"
He gestured toward the pan. "Stay here and watch the stove. The dish isn't ready yet."
Xue Ruyan nodded seriously, her hands gripping her spear. "I won't let anyone ruin the kitchen."
A resounding clang rang out.
Jiang Tian picked up his Black Dragon Kitchen Knife and charged.
His explosive speed stunned the alien warriors, his wild laughter echoing across the battlefield.
"Hahaha! You guys are so much better than the Flame Birds! You actually delivered yourselves to my table!"
The moment his voice fell, he reached the first Fire Fish warrior.
"Bo Bo?" The Fire Fish made a startled noise, its large fish eyes locking onto Jiang Tian as it raised its trident.
Then, it realized—it couldn't lift its weapon.
The next moment, it saw its own hand flying through the air.
"Fish don't need hands or feet." Jiang Tian muttered.
Slice! Slice!
The Fire Fish's limbs were severed in an instant.
Bang!
Jiang Tian smashed the blunt edge of his blade against the Fire Fish's skull. It twitched twice before collapsing unconscious.
He flipped the fish over, sliced open its belly, then kicked it toward Xue Ruyan's feet.
Xue Ruyan swung her spear lightly, nudging the dissected Fire Fish corpse into place beside the pile of Fire Frog bodies.
She remained still, standing guard. No one would get near the stove.
Jiang Tian cut down another Fire Fish, then a Fire Frog, their bodies rolling toward Xue Ruyan like neatly prepared ingredients.
He whistled as he worked.
"What a great harvest!" Jiang Tian grinned.
He was overjoyed. What could make a chef-in-training happier than a fresh batch of premium ingredients?
On a whim, he cut off a chunk of meat from the fattest Fire Fish, then roasted it over his blood flames.
He took a bite.
His eyes widened.
"Sweet!" Jiang Tian exclaimed. "This fish meat is so sweet! Amazing texture, perfect for grilling!"
He continued eating while chasing down the other Fire Fish warriors, slicing off pieces as he went.
The Fire Fish warriors froze in terror.
Their leader had been butchered, his flesh sliced off and eaten before their very eyes.
And this madman was still chasing them, tasting and analyzing their flavors while attacking!
This wasn't a warrior.
This was a demon.
The Fire Fish deputy leader trembled. He had been given command after the leader fell, but now—
He turned and ran.
"Boom boom boom!!!"
He screamed frantically in their native language. "RUN! RUN! RUN!"
His fat tail flapped wildly, desperate to escape this nightmare.
The other Fire Fish followed suit, flailing their fins and scattering in every direction.
This human was too terrifying!
