Chapter 10: Wrath of the Warlord
The Warlord of the Forsaken loomed before Leon, its obsidian armor gleaming under the crimson glow of the Blood Moon. Its four arms flexed, gripping two massive axes crackling with blood-red lightning.
Leon steadied his breath. This was no ordinary opponent—the sheer pressure radiating from the warlord was overwhelming. A Mid-Earth Realm fighter. A single hit could shatter his bones.
The system's notification pulsed in his mind.
[Trial of Blood: Second Opponent Identified]
Opponent: Warlord of the Forsaken
Cultivation Level: Mid-Earth Realm
Ability: Thunderclap Strike (Shockwave + Paralyzing Effect)
Weakness: ???
Leon's grip tightened around his Abyssal Fang. His last fight had drained him, and his shoulder still throbbed from the wound inflicted by the Shade of the Forsaken.
"I can't afford to hesitate."
The Warlord let out a thunderous roar, its axes crackling with power. Then, without warning, it charged.
Clash of Titans
Leon barely had time to react. The first axe came down with immense force, splitting the ground where he had stood just seconds before. He leaped to the side, but the warlord twisted unnaturally, bringing the second axe in a wide arc.
Leon raised his sword to block—
BOOM!
The impact sent a powerful shockwave through his body, throwing him across the arena. He barely managed to twist mid-air, landing in a rough roll that left his arms shaking.
[Warning: Thunderclap Shockwave has weakened your movement speed.]
Leon cursed under his breath. Every strike from this monster carried a paralyzing effect. If he got hit too many times, he'd be immobilized.
The warlord wasn't giving him time to recover. It stomped forward, the ground trembling beneath its weight.
Leon focused, activating Abyssal Fang's corrosion effect. The black flames around his sword burned brighter.
"I can't match its strength… but I don't have to."
Exploiting the Weakness
Leon dashed forward, dodging left and right as the warlord swung its axes in rapid succession. He wasn't blocking anymore—he was flowing like water, slipping past the monstrous warrior's attacks.
Then he saw it.
A crack in the armor near its left rib. A weak spot.
Leon gritted his teeth and dashed in close. The warlord reacted instantly, lifting an axe to strike—
Too late.
Leon spun low and plunged Abyssal Fang into the crack. The corrosion effect activated instantly, black flames eating away at the warlord's armor.
The monster howled in pain, staggering backward.
Leon didn't let up. He twisted the blade, deepening the wound, then leaped back just as the warlord swung wildly.
Blood-red lightning erupted from its body, its rage palpable.
[Warning: Warlord of the Forsaken has entered Berserk Mode.]
Leon barely had time to react before the warlord threw both axes at him.
The Killing Blow
The axes spun through the air like twin meteors. Leon pushed his body to the limit, twisting sideways at the last moment. One axe nicked his side, but the other embedded itself in the altar behind him.
The warlord was now weaponless.
Leon seized his chance.
Using all his remaining energy, he sprinted forward, closing the distance before the warlord could recover.
With a fierce battle cry, he leaped into the air, raising Abyssal Fang high—
Then he brought it down with everything he had.
The blade pierced through the warlord's skull, the abyssal energy devouring it from the inside. The creature let out one final, ear-splitting roar before collapsing to its knees.
Then, silence.
The warlord's massive body crumbled into dust, leaving only a single red crystal behind. The system immediately reacted.
[Trial of Blood: Second Opponent Defeated]
[Reward: Blood Essence Crystal + New Ability Unlocked]
Leon fell to one knee, panting. His entire body ached, but he had won.
The Blood Moon above pulsed, and the third and final trial began.
