They stood there for a breath too long. Tim's hand still lingered at the small of Aurora's back, with her fingers curled lightly at his wrist.
And then, like a crack of thunder in a quiet field, her phone buzzed.
Aurora blinked and stepped back slightly. Tim watched her every move, his fingers flexing like they weren't ready to let go.
She glanced at the screen. Her lips parted. "They're outside."
Tim's brows furrowed. "Who?"
She met his eyes, her voice too neutral. "Liam and Seraphina."
Just like that, the spell broke.
Tim went still, like someone had yanked the air from his lungs. "What do you mean Liam and… why would he bring her here?"
Aurora didn't answer right away. She smoothed her blouse, steadied her breath and stared into his eyes. Her voice remained cool when she parted her lips. "He offered to keep her company while I grabbed the last-minute things. But I didn't expect he'd bring her out of the house."
