Chapter 4

When those people were fishing for alligators in the pond, they unexpectedly caught a severed limb from the weeds, with clear bite marks still visible.

They were scared out of their wits and hurriedly called Vivienne, only to be met with her dismissive words.

"It's definitely a fake limb that Archer planted on purpose, putting on quite a show. He's done this countless times before, does he think I'll still believe it? Just throw away everything you've found!"

Dane quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

I didn't know what to say. After so many years of marriage, what did I amount to in her eyes?

The salvage crew set my severed limb aside. After killing the alligator, they still put my remains in a bag and preserved them.

Because one experienced member was absolutely certain that this was indeed a human limb, and couldn't possibly be fake.

As a result, everyone was in a dilemma, afraid to act rashly.

Another three days passed. Vivienne spent a long time being affectionate with Dane in the hospital room, without even going to see our son once.

Our son's injuries were severe and still required observation.

After careful examination, the doctor clearly stated that Dane had no issues. However, Vivienne stubbornly insisted that their medical skills were inadequate.

The people she sent to find me invariably returned without any news of my whereabouts.

After all, I was already dead - and in such a tragic manner. With no intact body left, how could they possibly find any trace of me in this world?

Vivienne, beside herself with anger, called my phone time and time again, only to be met with the message that it was turned off.

She kept sending me voice messages, threatening that if I didn't show up, she would divorce me, take our son away, and never let me see him again.

I loved her deeply, and it was I who had pursued her in the beginning. No matter what arguments we had, whenever she angrily mentioned divorce, I would always be the first to apologize.

But this time, I could never respond to her again. She went straight to calling a lawyer, saying she wanted to draft a divorce agreement between us.

Seeing her like this, Dane was overjoyed. He put on a shy act and confessed to her.

"The truth is, I've been in love with you for a long time. But because you were already married, I didn't dare say anything. Now that you're getting divorced, do I have a chance again?"

Dane had always been Vivienne's pure love. Hearing him say this, Vivienne's eyes immediately welled up with tears.

"Of course, if it's you, I'm willing."

The two exchanged loving glances, whispering sweet nothings to each other. Soon after, they could no longer contain themselves and fell into a passionate embrace, kissing fervently. The sound of their ardor filled the entire hospital room.

Our son was still bedridden next door, yet these two shameless lovebirds were already rolling around together. It made me feel sick to my stomach.

The couple was so lost in their kiss that they didn't notice another person entering the room.

"Vivienne, you've really outdone yourself! Your husband is missing, your son is seriously injured in bed, and yet you find time to canoodle with a toyboy."

It was Serenity. The three of us used to be neighbors, growing up together since childhood.

But ever since I politely declined her confession, I haven't been in much contact.

I was surprised to see her here as well.

Seeing her arrival, Vivienne looked visibly annoyed.

"Archer sent you, didn't he? Tell him my patience has run out. He should sign the divorce papers as soon as possible. I don't want to see him again."
