Chapter 2

Vivienne flew into a rage at the sight, showing no mercy as she viciously slapped Ethan to the ground.

"You little brat! Is that how you talk to Mr. Gerald? If I catch you doing this again, I swear I'll beat you to death."

Just seeing Ethan again was enough to make me content.

I had been constantly worried about this young child, never having been separated from him for so long before.

Ethan's face swelled up dramatically, and he immediately burst into tears.

Previously, both Vivienne and I had treated this child like a precious treasure, never daring to scold him too harshly.

I never imagined that for Dane's sake, Vivienne could be so heartless, even going as far as to treat her own flesh and blood with such cruelty.

Annoyed by his crying, Vivienne waved her hand, ordering someone to quickly take Ethan away.

I breathed a sigh of relief; Dane was too dangerous, having even dared to try and kill me. It was better for Ethan to leave this place as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, a sinister glint flashed in Dane's eyes, suggesting he wasn't about to let this go so easily. He grabbed Vivienne's sleeve, stopping her action, and walked directly up to Melody. He dropped to his knees and pleaded desperately.

"Ethan, you must know where your father is, right? Please, I'm begging you to call him out. I have no other intention, I just really don't want to die."

Vivienne quickly helped Dane to his feet.

Dane wasn't satisfied with just getting me killed, now he's set his sights on my son.

"How could Ethan suddenly appear in this desolate place? Dr. Stratton must have contacted Ethan and left through him. People are inherently good; if it weren't for adult manipulation, how could Ethan harbor such ill will towards me?"

The two people responsible for guarding me must be trying to shirk responsibility, claiming that Ethan told them to let me go. Since Ethan is the young master of the Myerson family, they wouldn't dare disobey his orders.

An enraged Vivienne yanked Ethan up, repeatedly demanding to know my whereabouts.

"I didn't do anything, I just secretly followed behind you guys. I've been so long without seeing Dad, it's been six months now. I miss him terribly. I want my Dad! Not this Dane guy, tell him to leave!"

Ethan was terrified, crying her eyes out.

"I'm so disappointed in you. Your dad has really messed you up. You're just like him, always lying and playing the victim. Who else could it be if not you?"

It had nothing to do with Ethan. They couldn't get any information out of her.

Vivienne was fed up. She grabbed Ethan by the collar and dragged her towards the abandoned fish pond.

"You think I won't do anything to you, is that it?"

My heart skipped a beat. Ethan was her child too! What was she going to do?

I had a bad feeling about this, but I couldn't do anything.

To my shock and horror, Vivienne viciously shoved Ethan's head underwater.

"Here's a taste of what your good-for-nothing father got. This time, I'll teach you both a lesson. From now on, you better show some respect to your Uncle Gerald!"

After about a minute, Vivienne yanked Ethan out. All she got was the child's cries and wails, so she dunked her head back under.

"Spit it out! Where did Archer run off to? I don't have time to play games with you two! Tell him to come out right now."

Ethan was still young, with an underdeveloped respiratory system. After a few rounds, his little face turned a frightening shade of blue and purple.
