Chapter 16 Bad situation in the border town

Naruto looked at Tsunade, and she looked back at him.

The silence was so loud that it felt like the whole world was holding its breath.

"Um, can you tell me where I am, miss?"

Naruto asked Tsunade politely, as he didn't know who she was. He was cautious but did not let his anxiety be the factor in judging people first.

The last thing he heard was that someone was going to take him back to his original place.

And here must be his nation. He could tell by the type of tree leaves around him. This type of tree leaf could only be found in Hi no Kuni.

Tsunade thought about it a little. She wanted to ask him about Daji, but she didn't think it would be the right time for her to ask that question.

She needed to bring him out of the forest first.

"I will tell you about it later, but for now, let's head out of this forest."

Tsunade led Naruto out of the forest. While they were heading toward the border town, she kept looking at him and explaining to him where he was.

Naruto felt relieved that he was finally home, even though it was far from his village.

He looked at Tsunade and felt a little unsettling that Tsunade kept looking at him like that, but he remembered that she had helped him in the forest. Otherwise, he might already be dead.

Naruto's stomach suddenly growled loudly, reminding him that he hadn't eaten anything since he and Xiao Ying left the Xia Clan.

"Come with me, I will buy you some food."

Tsunade didn't have much money on her because she spent it all on gambling and alcohol. However, just a simple meal she could provide for him.

'This is why I shouldn't be his godmother. I didn't know what Kushina saw in me.'

Tsunade brought Naruto to a ramen shop. Even though it wasn't as good as Ichiraku in Konoha, it was passable.

Naruto nodded and happily accepted her good will, but when the food touched his mouth, he frowned.

"Too much salt, and the broth is too thick with too many things."

Tsunade looked at the five-year-old Naruto, who cutely judged the ramen. The owner didn't mind it, and he thought he was cute as well.

"I know that my food is bad, but that's life."

The owner said it with a smile. He was proud of his ramen, even though it wasn't the best.

Naruto nodded and finished it without anything left in the cup.

Tsunade paid for the food, and when she and Naruto got out of the ramen stall, someone ran toward them very quickly.

"Tsunade-sama! Don't leave me!"

A young woman yelled at Tsunade.

"I almost forgot about her. Shizune, you shouldn't run like that. You are going to attract unnecessary attention."

The one who called for her was Dan Shizune. Tsunade's disciple.

"Who is this kid, Tsunade-sama? Please don't tell me that you have kidnapped a noble kid for ransom."

Shizune was aware that they were short on money, but Tsunade shouldn't do something so reckless.

She looked at Naruto. He was cute and very well-behaved. He must be the heir of one of the great nobles!

Tsunade felt annoyed, and she bonked Shizune in the head once and said,

"I did no such thing! By the way, this is Uzumaki Naruto, as you know the last name. He is related to me, so he will be with us for some time."

Shizune didn't know who Uzumaki Naruto was because Naruto being Jinchuriki, or human sacrifice, was a secret of the village.

"Uzumaki!"

Shizune knew about the history of Uzushiogakure and Konohagakure.

Both the Senju Clan and the Uzumaki Clan have been allies and friends since the time of the Warring Era.

Uzushio was wiped out in the past, and almost all of Uzumaki was killed. It was understandable that Tsunade wanted to help Naruto.

"I understand now. Welcome to the party, Naruto-chan. But I have something to tell you before anything else. It is about Tsunade-sama's gambli—"

Bonk!

Shizune was bonked on the head again. She yelped and touched her head.

"Don't teach the kid something you shouldn't!"

Tsunade sighed, now that they had Naruto with them. She could not go to a gambling den or to a dangerous bar that sells cheap liquor anymore.

Tsunade thought about it. What should she do from now on when suddenly a responsibility just drops on her lap like this?

'Should I go back to the village?'

Taking care of a child was not an easy matter. Especially in the border town, many bad people gathered.

And when Tsunade was thinking of what she should do now, she heard a commotion.

"Get to the safe place now! We spot a group of Ninjas from other nations coming this way!"

A Chunin level ninja appeared and warned everyone.

This was a normal occurrence, so not many people were alarmed. They just did what they had to, and that was to hide.

Tsunade didn't want to be involved in fighting anymore when she had developed hemophobia.

She spoke to Shizune and Naruto.

"Let's go to a safe place. I don't want to deal with this sh—"

"Tsunade-sama, language!"

Shizune stopped Tsunade from cursing. She didn't want Naruto to hear bad words.

"Whatever, let's go."

Tsunade wanted to go to a safe place with the two. However, the Ninja that attacked the border town was not a normal Ninja at all.

They were from Iwagakure. Konoha Ninjas at the border town weren't their opponents at all.

"Why is Iwa's ninja here?"

Tsunade frowned. They hadn't made a move since they lost the war to the 4th Hokage.
