Suddenly, a voice resonated through the sky, "The assessment for the sect's outer disciple recruitment is now over."
After a brief pause, allowing the participants to digest the news, the voice continued, "However, you still have a chance to join the sect. Those who can reach the summit within the next two hours will be selected as Handymen for the sect."
Following another short pause, the voice added, "Being a Handyman is also an opportunity.
"If you accumulate enough contribution points, you can exchange them for Qi cultivation methods. And if, within five years, you reach the Qi Awakening stage through cultivation, you'll be eligible to enter the sect as an outer sect disciple."
After the announcement, the young men and women who were still far from the summit hastened to reach it within the allotted two hours.
Excitement was evident on their faces, but Shi Jian shook his head, knowing that their smiles would soon turn to despair. "Within a few months, they'll realize it's not that simple," he thought.
His words were rooted in his experience with Fatty Dumpling, the man in charge of the Handymen in the Sky Heaven Sect.
Although he wasn't a true elder of the sect, his position earned him the title.
As a cultivator in the 5th stage of the Qi Awakening realm, Fatty Dumpling wielded significant power over the Handymen.
The sect rarely checked on the Handymen or monitored Fatty Dumpling's work, giving him free rein to do as he pleased.
This lack of oversight allowed him to exploit and abuse his position, making life miserable for the Handymen under his control.
Fatty Dumpling's exploitation was ruthless. He used male Handymen as servants and female Handymen for his own twisted pleasure.
Those who succumbed to his demands were treated relatively better, while those who refused were subjected to unbearable hardships.
Shi Jian's eyes narrowed as memories of his time in the Wooden Depository, the Handymen's quarters, flooded his mind.
"Only those who gained Fatty Dumpling's favour were allowed to cultivate within the depository. The rest were either driven to despair or forced to abandon all hope."
He recalled the countless female Handymen who had fallen victim to Fatty Dumpling's cruelty. Some were lured with false promises of joining the sect, while others were broken by his relentless pursuit.
Shi Jian's fist clenched in anger as he stood up from the boulder. With a fierce determination, he began his ascent towards the summit. "This time will be different. I'll ensure your demise is more wretched than you ever imagined, Fatty Dumpling."
A fat man, Fatty Dumpling, sat with a sly grin, fondling the breasts of a young woman.
He ordered the men kneeling on the ground, their foreheads pressed against the dirt, "A new batch of recruits arrives today. Ensure you behave, or you'll suffer consequences worse than you can imagine."
As he spoke, he tightened his grip on the young female Handyman's breast.
She sat on his lap, her eyes closed in embarrassment, humiliated by the public display.
She was one of the recruits who had chosen to submit to Fatty Dumpling's desires in hopes of making her life less miserable.
The memory of a fellow female Handyman who had refused Fatty Dumpling's advances still lingered. Her lifeless body had been discovered just a few months prior, serving as a grim reminder of the consequences of defiance.
Fatty Dumpling's hands cupped the young woman's breast, his tongue licking her skin as the men kneeling on the ground began to disperse, leaving the two alone.
"Bend over for me," he sneered, positioning himself for a twisted pleasure. "I want to see how much you've changed since then."
Meanwhile, Shi Jian reached the summit within an hour of the announcement. He recognized a few familiar faces, the same ones he had seen during his previous life.
Soon, more people arrived, including the group of men who had pushed him earlier. The group of men remained oblivious to Shi Jian's presence, engrossed in their conversation.
Suddenly, four figures descended from the starry sky, capturing everyone's attention. The group consisted of one elder and three disciples: Su Linye, Xin Ren, and another disciple.
The Handymen disciples ceased their activities, their eyes fixed on the four figures as they touched down.
"Congratulations on entering the Sky Heaven Sect," the elder said, his voice warm and welcoming. "Although you're not joining as outer disciples but becoming Handymen is far better than leaving empty-handed."
The disciples bowed respectfully as the elder nodded and continued, gesturing to the man standing to his right.
"This your senior brother Shin Youm. He was once a Handyman disciple, just like you, but through hard work and diligent cultivation, he became an outer sect disciple."
" He'll escort you to your living quarters, there, you'll meet the elder in charge, who will explain the further details," the elder added.
The elder's gaze shifted to the young woman standing to his left. "This young lady is your senior sister, Su Linye. Although she's a princess of these lands, she's also a dedicated inner sect disciple."
The crowd of Handyman disciples stood agog, their faces filled with wonder, as they gazed upon the breathtakingly beautiful Su Linye, who smiled warmly in their direction.
His eyes then turned to Xin Ren. "And this young man is your senior brother, Xin Ren, the second son of our sect leader. Despite his esteemed position, he remains committed to his duties as a normal sect disciple."
"Remember to stay focused on your goals," the elder emphasized. "I hope to see many of you emerge as outer sect disciples within the next five years."
With that, the elder concluded his speech, and Shin Youm led the disciples towards the Wooden Depository, their residence for the next five years.
As the group moved forward, Su Linye's gaze drifted toward Shi Jian, who smiled warmly at her. However, their silent exchange was noticed by Xin Ren, who couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy in his heart.
"Let's go, Linye," Xin Ren interrupted, his voice tinged with a hint of possessiveness. "It's time for your breakthrough. You must challenge the core sect disciples for their seat."
Su Linye nodded and turned to leave, her smile fading as she departed.
Meanwhile, Shi Jian's warm smile transformed into a stern expression, his eyes narrowing as he glared at Xin Ren's retreating back.
"I stole her away from you before, and I'll do it again," Shi Jian thought to himself, a determined glint in his eye.
"My only regret was that I couldn't save her sooner, but this time, I'll make sure to shield her from every possible obstacle in her path."
With a resolute heart, Shi Jian began to follow the group, moving in the opposite direction of the sect as they descended from the mountain.
