Chapter 2: The Return of the Sect Master
"A dead man shouldn't walk. But tonight, the Heavenly Cloud Sect will witness the impossible."
---
Xiao Tian stepped out of his chamber, his gaze sharp like a blade.
In his memories, the ones who poisoned him were the Three Grand Elders—senior figures within the sect who once swore loyalty but had long harbored ambitions. They believed he was dead, but they were about to learn otherwise.
His spiritual sense spread across the sect, pinpointing their exact location.
The Grand Elder's Hall.
It was a place meant for high-ranking sect members to gather, but tonight, it was being used for something else—a coup.
---
Inside the Grand Elder's Hall
Three figures sat on high seats, their expressions smug as they overlooked a group of kneeling disciples and elders.
Grand Elder Mo Jiang, an old man with a white beard, the mastermind.
Second Elder Fang Hai, a bald, scar-faced man, known for his brutal methods.
Third Elder Lu Cheng, a thin man with calculating eyes, handling external affairs.
Behind them stood a few loyalist disciples, while below, several hesitant elders had been forced into submission.
Mo Jiang spoke with confidence.
"With Sect Master Xiao Tian dead, the sect cannot remain leaderless. I shall take his place and restore Heavenly Cloud Sect's former glory!"
Some elders exchanged uneasy glances, but no one dared to speak. The sect master had indeed been weak in recent years, and his sudden death seemed inevitable.
Fang Hai smirked. "It's for the best. That fool was holding us back. Now, let's celebrate—"
BOOM!
The hall's doors burst open, splinters flying as a terrifying aura swept across the room.
A figure clad in flowing black robes stood in the entrance, his eyes like twin abysses.
Xiao Tian had arrived.
His gaze swept over the room, lingering on the three elders. "Did I die too soon for your liking?"
---
The Hall Falls Silent
Mo Jiang's face turned pale. His heart skipped a beat.
Impossible! The poison was one of the deadliest in the cultivation world! How was he standing here, alive and unharmed?!
"Y-You…!" Lu Cheng stammered, gripping his chair.
Fang Hai, ever the brute, growled and unleashed his aura. "Hmph! A fake ghost trick! Even if you survived, you're still weak! You dare show yourself before us?!"
But before he could attack, Xiao Tian vanished.
CRACK!
A sharp sound echoed as Xiao Tian reappeared in front of Fang Hai—his hand gripping the elder's throat.
"Still weak?" Xiao Tian asked coldly.
Fang Hai's eyes bulged. What was this strength?!
His cultivation was at the Nascent Soul Early Stage, while the last he remembered, Xiao Tian had barely maintained the Core Formation Realm. Yet now, Xiao Tian's grip was like divine iron, suffocating him with sheer force.
He struggled, but it was useless.
Mo Jiang and Lu Cheng trembled.
"This… this isn't possible!" Mo Jiang shouted.
"Enough," Xiao Tian said. His hand clenched.
CRACK!
Fang Hai's neck snapped like dry wood, and his body fell lifeless to the floor.
The entire hall fell deathly silent.
Disciples and elders looked on in horror.
Xiao Tian… had just killed a Grand Elder in a single move.
Mo Jiang swallowed hard. He had planned to eliminate Xiao Tian when he was at his weakest, but now the tables had turned.
A powerful voice broke through the silence.
"Kneel."
Xiao Tian's command was absolute. His Nascent Soul Late Stage aura burst forth like a tidal wave, suffocating everyone in the room.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
One by one, elders and disciples collapsed to their knees, unable to resist. Even Mo Jiang and Lu Cheng fell, their faces pale.
Xiao Tian stepped forward, his voice colder than ice. "You betrayed the sect and tried to kill me. Do you have any last words?"
Mo Jiang clenched his fists, his face filled with unwillingness. "You think killing me will change anything? The Heavenly Sword Sect will not let you—"
SLASH!
Before he could finish, a streak of sword qi flashed, and Mo Jiang's head fell from his shoulders.
Lu Cheng, the last remaining traitor, trembled violently. "S-Sect Master, have mercy! I was forced into this—!"
Xiao Tian looked at him with disgust. "Cowards don't deserve mercy."
BOOM!
He flicked his finger, sending a pulse of energy through Lu Cheng's body. The elder let out a final scream before his body exploded into dust.
---
A New Order Begins
Xiao Tian turned to the remaining elders and disciples.
His voice was calm, but it carried the weight of an unshakable will.
"From this moment forward, the Heavenly Cloud Sect is reborn."
He looked at the kneeling figures before him. "Loyalty will be rewarded. Betrayal… will be punished."
The disciples and elders, still shaken, lowered their heads in submission.
They had no doubt.
A new era had begun.
