[AYAMI]
Kujo knew that this was dangerous for her best friend.
The way that Ayami had stilled, like nothing else was around her, was worrying for her best friend. She watched as Ayami held the servant's gaze like this was some romantic shit they were on and it didn't look good.
Ayami was the cruel enforcer, not the woman who looked giddy as fuck just because of a Kurayami servant on the evening they were supposed to be protecting Yamashita. But was that something that Ayami Araki wanted to pay attention to at this point?
Was it something that made her want to remember her vows as the enforcer or was it just that this was the one mating ball that she was bound to stress the fuck out of Kujo?
"Aya..." Kujo tried to reach out to the police. She knew this was not right, not with the way that people were currently walking into Yamashita. She could tell that Ayami was so close to waving her and running towards the woman but what the hell was she to do?
"She's perfect," Ayami sighed dreamily, and Kujo could already feel the headache coming. It would be a miracle if she survived the mating ball with Ayami's new obsession just reminding her of why she needed to be very careful for both their sakes.
"Girl, you can't be serious. What the fuck is going on in your head?" Kujo asked, and Ayami just kept staring at the woman on the other side like the universe was giving her the one chance to make herself useful. But was that what this was, really?
"Go do your job. That's an order. And you're dismissed," Ayami said, and Kujo sighed. She couldn't fight in a direct order, not even if it came to her best friend, who was being unreasonable because of a servant. So dejectedly the warrior set out in the other direction while Ayami...
Oh Ayami.
'What do I say to her when I get there?' Ayami wondered as she stared at the beautiful servant.
This woman was more than she had imagined, and frankly, Ayami had missed her so much. She wanted to run to her and tell her just how much she missed her, but they were on different sides. It would be weird for them to be seen together.
It made no sense and given the fact that Ayami was a high-ranking wolf, she would bring unnecessary attention to the both of them.
Gods, did Ayami know that painfully.
It was a harsh reminder of what her life had been reduced to, but she refused to let go.
She couldn't let go. Not before she breathed in that peach scent.
Then again, perhaps the universe didn't have time for them because while Ayami was trying to think of possible words to say to the Kurayami peaches, a warrior from Yamashita blocked her view.
He was talking to her peaches.
He looked like he was scolding the servants, probably because they had been standing there for a long time. It was something that didn't sit right with Ayami, so without thinking at all, Ayami walked over to where they were.
"Is there a problem here?" Ayami asked he she reached them and saw the distressed face her peaches were wearing. Whatever this warrior had said had to have affected the girl she was after, and that found to sit well with her.
But still, a part of Ayami knew better than to start a war because of a woman she had only known for a few weeks. It wouldn't make sense if ever she was to explain what the fuck she had be on when this had happened.
Was it supposed to invalidate everything else?
"Enforcer Ayami... They were blocking the line, and a lot of people were still coming in. I was just directing them to the other side… but this one refused to budge, saying I wasn't qualified to talk to her," the warrior said, pointing at Yuzuki, who seemed as defiant as possible.
She looked like she was not in the mood to be told what to do and as Ayami stared at her she couldn't help but feel her heart flutter. It was really thankfulness for the Yamashita enforcer, not that she could talk about it openly anyway.
Then again what other shit was supposed to happen?
"Which kingdom are you from?" Ayami asked like she didn't already know. Maybe it was because of the warrior beside them. Or perhaps it was because Ayami wanted an official introduction.
Maybe she wanted to hear Yuzuki say her name, something that she only remembered because of the scent that had driven her nuts in the past few weeks. This woman was her doom and maybe Ayami was losing her shit real fast.
Who could blame her for it, though, when life didn't come with a manual?
"Kurayami, ma'am," Rinko said determinedly.
"Kurayami?" Ayami asked curiously.
Rinko stared at her disbelievingly before she added, "Follow me. And you, get back to work before it gets crowded."
"She's going to kill us," Yuzuki whispered to Rinko as they followed the Yamashita camcorder.
There were a few people who had sent them and could tell that they were done for at this point in time. They knew that this was the kind of hell that the two servants wouldn't come out of with ease, and they hoped that someone would come and speak for them.
Was it a necessity?
"We're at the mating ball. She can't… Now focus," Rinko insisted, but Yuzuki didn't seem to buy into that. If anything, she was determined to reek of fear and pain, like that was what she could think of at the moment.
Maybe it was insane for them but this was not speculation either way. The Yamashita enforcer has always proven to be a piece of work through and through. She never took prisoners and no one would survive her.
"Listen to your friend, peaches. I can kill you, but I don't want to. I figured the guard was making your experience miserable and wanted to get you away," Ayami said earnestly as they reached a spare room in the palace.
They had walked through a multitude of people who were staring at them curiously and wondering what the duo had done. And yet Hayami, with her grim face, hasn't said shit. She had just insisted that they keep going.
Now they were in one of the rooms of the Yamashita palace, and Yuzuki didn't know what to think.
"You're enforcer, Ayami... You're... The myth. Why would you help us?" Yuzuki asked shakily. She looked like she was about to lose her mind with the woman, and not like she was glad to have come to her palace of the man she despised with everything.
All in good time, right?
"I wanted to see you again... Yuzu," Ayami said.
Rinko scoffed at the absurdity. There was no reason; no valid reason for the Yamashita enforcer to want to be around a crazy servant like Yuzuki. Granted, Rinko didn't know much about the new Kuramitsu, but even that couldn't explain this.
"Why?" Yuzuki asked in earnest. There was no tease in her voice, almost like she really was curious about this woman. It was like life was giving them a chance to see each other, but Yuzuki wanted to leave.
"Because I missed you, peaches."
