Chapter 17: Batman and silas vs Bone monster.
The scent of blood and burnt metal hung thick in the air, mixing with the acrid smoke curling from shattered machinery. Dim warehouse lights flickered as Dante Ombra's agonized screams twisted into something inhuman.
Silas stood motionless, watching as Dante's body contorted, his skin bubbling like molten tar. His bones stretched, cracked, and reformed. Veins turned black beneath his shifting flesh, pulsing with an unnatural rhythm. His fingers lengthened into gnarled claws, his mouth splitting into a grotesque, jagged grin filled with serrated teeth.
Then his eyes opened—deep pits of abyssal black with burning crimson slits.
A beast had been born.

Batman tensed, stepping back as the transformation completed. His gloved fingers instinctively reached for his utility belt. "What the hell is that?" His voice was measured, but there was a sharp edge to it—caution, calculation.
Silas didn't respond. His crimson gaze was locked onto the monster that had once been Dante, searching for something—anything—within its presence. No demonic energy. Only… corrupted mana. A sensation clawed at the edges of his mind, nagging at a forgotten memory.
Then the beast howled.
The raw force of its scream shattered the crates around them, sending shards of wood flying like shrapnel. The floor beneath them cracked from the sheer pressure of its presence. Batman moved first, his grappling hook firing, yanking him up onto a rusted metal rafter.
Silas vanished.
The next second, a massive claw slammed down where he had been standing, splintering the ground into a crater.
A dark blur streaked through the air—Silas reappearing directly above the beast, his Dark Necron Dagger igniting with shadowy energy. He brought it down, aiming for the base of its skull—
But the beast moved faster than expected.
A bone spike erupted from its back, forcing Silas to twist mid-air, deflecting the projectile with a flick of his dagger. The impact sent him skidding backward as the beast lunged again.
Super speed. Super strength. Bone manipulation.
Batman, analyzing from above, narrowed his eyes. "It's adapting fast," he muttered before pulling three explosive batarangs and launching them in quick succession.
The batarangs detonated against the creature's shoulder and ribcage, blasting chunks of flesh and bone into the air—
Only for the wounds to regenerate in seconds.
Silas clicked his tongue. "Of course."
The monster whipped its arm in Batman's direction. A cluster of bone chains shot out, stretching unnaturally. Batman fired a high-voltage taser line, intercepting the chains mid-flight and sending thousands of volts through them. The monster flinched—but instead of recoiling, it adapted, its body shifting to disperse the electricity before snapping the chains toward Batman again.
Silas appeared in front of him—teleporting like a flash, just a flicker of darkness—before slicing the chains mid-air with a single, precise slash. The severed bones clattered to the floor, dissolving into black ichor.
Batman landed beside him. "It learns."
"No kidding," Silas muttered. His dagger pulsed with dark magic as he twirled it in his fingers. "We have to kill it before it evolves into something worse."
The beast snarled, lowering itself into a hunting stance. Then it moved.
A dark ki blast shot from its mouth, ripping through the air like a cannon.
Silas's shadow magic erupted around him, forming a thick barrier of writhing tendrils that absorbed the blast. The explosion shattered the ground beneath them, sending Batman flipping backward as Silas dissipated his shield.
Batman threw down a smoke bomb, covering his retreat, then activated his sonic disruptor. A piercing, high-frequency screech echoed through the warehouse. The monster clutched its head, its howl turning into a distorted, agonized shriek.
Silas wasted no time. He appeared behind the beast instantly.
His magic-infused dagger plunged into its back, hellfire igniting along the blade. The flames seared through its regenerating flesh, but instead of weakening, the creature adapted, thickening its hide to withstand the fire.
It turned too fast—its massive claw swiping at Silas with terrifying force. He teleported mid-motion, but the beast anticipated his movement, its bone spikes launching in every direction.
A jagged spike tore through Silas's shoulder.
He gritted his teeth, twisting his body away as Batman reengaged, firing an EMP round that struck the beast square in the chest. The impact sent out a pulse that momentarily disrupted its energy flow, making it stumble.
But only for a second.
Batman switched tactics. He pulled two cryo batarangs and launched them with deadly precision. They struck the beast's arms, freezing them solid. Then, without missing a beat, he threw an acid capsule, melting the beast's legs mid-regeneration.
Silas capitalized on the moment.
He raised both hands—shadow chains erupted from the ground, wrapping around the monster's limbs and torso. The beast struggled violently, but Silas clenched his fists, tightening the chains until bones cracked and muscles tore.
"This is over," he snarled.
From the darkness, six towering shadow soldiers emerged, their black armor gleaming, their crimson eyes locked onto the restrained beast.
"Hold it down."
The wraiths obeyed without hesitation. Their massive arms wrapped around the struggling beast, forcing it onto its knees. The warehouse walls trembled as its muffled howls filled the space.
Silas teleported directly in front of it.
His dagger gleamed with condensed dark magic. With a sharp exhale, he drove the blade through the monster's neck—then twisted.
Blood—black and steaming—gushed from the wound as he yanked the blade upward, severing the head clean off.
The monstrous body slumped.
Silas exhaled. Batman landed beside him, his cape billowing. "Is it dead?"
Silas pulled his dagger free, letting the severed head roll to the ground. He flicked the black blood from his blade. "It better be."
For the first time since the battle started, they both stood still, catching their breath. The warehouse was a ruin—smoke rising, shattered walls crumbling, the air heavy with exhaustion and silence.
Batman scanned the scene with his structural analysis lenses. "I've never seen anything regenerate this fast."
Silas frowned. That corrupted mana—he knew it. But from where?
Then the silence broke.
A wet, grotesque squelching sound.
Silas stiffened.
Behind them, the headless corpse twitched.
Muscles bulged. Flesh bubbled. Bone cracked and reassembled. A new head erupted from the severed stump, its jagged teeth even larger, its eyes burning with feral, boundless rage.
It had adapted. Again.
Batman turned, reaching for his energy shield. Silas's expression darkened, his grip on his dagger tightening.
The monster roared, the warehouse trembling under its fury.
And then it charged.
