The streets of Ambracia roared with celebration.
Alexander II rode through the city gates, his sword raised high, the banners of Epirus fluttering in the wind.
The people chanted his name.
"Alexander! Alexander!"
Their king had returned.
Their king had defeated Macedon.
But Alexander felt no peace.

The Victory Feast
Inside the great hall, wine flowed freely, and the nobles feasted.
Drakon sat beside Alexander, grinning as he tore into roasted meat. "The boy king has become a legend."
Alexander smirked. "Not a legend. Not yet."
Lysandros leaned forward. "Demetrius II is dead. Macedon is broken. You have done what your father could not."
Alexander took a sip of wine, his eyes darkening. "And yet, Rome does not fear me."
Drakon's grin faded.
Silence settled over the table.
Then—the doors to the hall burst open.
A messenger stumbled inside, his cloak torn and bloodied.
He fell to his knees, gasping. "My king—Rome has come."

Rome's Warning
At dawn, Alexander rode to the city walls.
Below, a Roman envoy stood with a cohort of legionaries, their shields gleaming.
The envoy stepped forward.
"We bring a message from the Senate," he called.
Alexander did not answer. He merely watched.
The Roman unfurled a scroll, reading aloud.
"King of Epirus, you have made yourself an enemy of Rome."
Drakon tensed beside him.
"The Senate does not yet desire war," the Roman continued. "But hear this—if Epirus raises a sword against Rome, it will be broken."
Silence.
Then, Alexander spoke.
"I have seen Roman legions fall."
The envoy smirked. "And yet Rome still stands."
The soldiers behind him shifted, gripping their weapons.
Alexander stepped forward, his voice cold.
"Tell your Senate this—Epirus kneels to no empire. If Rome wishes war, it will find only death here."
The Roman studied him.
Then, he nodded.
"So be it."
He turned and left, his soldiers marching in perfect formation.
Alexander watched them go, his hands curling into fists.
Drakon exhaled. "Rome will return."
Alexander's golden eyes burned with fire.
"Then we must be ready."
