Talent Reborn – Season 2
Episode 15: A Duel of Minds
Haruto sat in his apartment, replaying the fight in his head. Soma. A man who could manipulate force itself. A man who had walked away without a scratch, as if their battle had been nothing more than an experiment.
Haruto's fingers clenched around his coffee cup. His ability had given him an edge against normal doctors, even skilled fighters. But against someone like Soma? Raw talent wasn't enough.
A sudden knock at his door broke his thoughts. He stood, muscles still sore from the fight, and opened it.
Renji Kujo stood there, arms crossed. His sharp golden eyes flickered with something unreadable.
"We need to talk."
Haruto stepped aside, letting him in. Renji didn't waste time.
"You were attacked last night." It wasn't a question.
Haruto tensed. "You knew?"
Renji sighed, tossing a file onto the table. "I told you before—your ability is drawing attention. Soma is just one of many."
Haruto flipped the file open. Surveillance photos, reports, redacted documents. Some mentioned "Project Origin." Others referenced individuals with enhanced abilities. His pulse quickened.
"This isn't just about me, is it?"
Renji met his gaze. "No. It's about us."
Haruto's breath caught.
"You're not the only one with a gift," Renji said, voice quiet but firm. "There are others—people who weren't born with talent, but given it. And someone out there is keeping track of every single one of us."
Haruto swallowed. This was bigger than he had thought.
Before he could respond, Renji pulled out his phone and tapped the screen. A hospital's emergency alert system flashed across it.
"Enough talking. We have a problem."
Haruto's stomach tightened as he read the report. A patient had been admitted with a completely unknown condition. Organs shutting down for no reason. No medical explanation.
Haruto grabbed his coat. "Let's go."
The hospital was in chaos when they arrived. Doctors scrambled through the halls, and a tense energy filled the air. Haruto and Renji made their way to the ICU, where a group of specialists stood around the patient's bed.
A man in his late thirties lay motionless, his skin alarmingly pale. Machines beeped frantically, his vitals unstable.
Dr. Ayaka Tachibana stood at the bedside, her expression grim. She looked up as they approached.
"We've tried everything," she said. "He's dying, but we don't know why."
Haruto stepped closer, analyzing the patient. His breathing was shallow, but something was strange—his body wasn't just shutting down. It was rejecting itself.
Renji's gaze darkened. "This isn't natural."
Haruto's pulse pounded.
This wasn't just a medical emergency. This was something unnatural—something connected to him, to Renji, and to the people pulling the strings behind the scenes.
And if they didn't figure it out fast, the patient would die.
