Kai paused, hand still on the side of the Alkaidon's neck. He grinned faintly. "I was thinking about how we'll get along. How can I take care of your gift? How much food I need to feed, that kind of stuff." He changed the topic. He can't tell her that he was talking to his system.
"Don't worry, Allaidon will hunt for itself. It will take care of the food." The voice replied.
In the mist, the crab did not retreat with offense. Instead, it stepped back slowly, claws lowering as if in formal salute. Its eyes met Kai's once, then turned away, vanishing back into the deep as fog swallowed its bulk.
"I thank you," the voice said. "One day, when you return, it may still be here. If not… then you will have to earn a new arm for your upcoming challenges."
Kai nodded. "I'll earn it. Or make it."
