CHAPTER 25

I sat on my couch, my hands covering my face as I exhaled heavily. The silence in the apartment was unbearable. It used to be filled with warmth—her laughter echoing through the space, her scent lingering in the air. Now, it was empty. Cold. It was like she had taken all the life out of it when she left.

I kept replaying everything in my head, trying to figure out what the hell had gone wrong.

What did I do?

What did I say?

Had I pushed her away without realizing it?

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t come up with an answer. She had given me no warning, no explanation—just that damn resignation letter.

I clenched my fists, my jaw tightening as frustration bubbled inside me. She didn’t get to walk away without giving me a reason. She didn’t get to disappear like she never meant anything to me.
