CHAPTER 47

The door creaked open, and Sienna turned her head slowly toward the sound. A familiar face peeked through, wide-eyed and worried. Caroline stepped in, her brow creased in panic as she rushed to the hospital bed. Her long coat flared behind her as she all but sprinted to Sienna's side.

"Oh my gosh, Sienna," Caroline breathed, dropping her bag on the nearby chair as she reached for her cousin's hand.

Sienna hastily wiped the tears off her cheeks, but her expression remained broken, haunted. Her lips trembled as she spoke, her voice raspy and full of sorrow. "Carol..."

Caroline squeezed her hand tightly. "You're okay, I am here now, okay? What happened?"

Sienna blinked slowly, trying to gather her scattered thoughts. Her voice was distant, as if she were somewhere else entirely. "I don't know how... The road was empty, but then suddenly this car came out of nowhere... it was on the wrong side of the lane. Just like how it happened two years ago. With Mom and Dad."
